Switch Plate Decorating 7 Tired of those dull and boring switch plates (you know,
the plate that holds down your light switch)? Come learn a fun and functional tech-
nique to personalize your plates. Alcohol ink stamping involves little skill and can
be applied to many other items to create or embellish home d6cor or jewelry. You
bring the switch plates and we'll give you the skills to create plates of art. Date:

YOUTH DAY OFF ACTIVITIES
This year we will offer afternoon field trips to various attractions in and around
the metro area when kids are off from school. The trips are held on specific non-
school days. These trips are for kids in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Students will meet the
bus at Lakewood Elementary School to board. Important: Snacks are NOT included
in this year's activities; send extra money if your child wants a snack. Time: Leave
1 p.m. and return by 4:15 p.m.; Location: Leave from Lakewood Elementary School
(Parents, pick student up from school no later than 4:30 p.m.); Fee: Varies by trip/

February 20-Climb Iowa: Climb Iowa is Iowa's largest indoor climbing and train-
ing facility, with more than 10,000 square feet of climbing, 200 routes and problems.
Included in the prices is all climbing equipment and two hours of unlimited climb-
ing. A safety waiver must be completed and turned in to participate in this program.
Cost: Norwalk residents $12, non-residents $13.80.
March 19-Incredible Pizza of Urbandale: Over 100 games, ticket games and simu-
lators await you! Included in the price will be an arcade game card and two hours of
unlimited attractions'such as bumper cars, go-karts, mini bowling, or mini golf! Must
be 50" for bumper cars. Cost: Norwalk residents $25, non-residents $28.75.
STEP BENCH AEROBICS/INTERVAL
Step aerobicsflnterval is a class of high energy aerobic routines interspersed with
intense cardio segments and followed by a recovery period. Class will improve cardio
conditioning. This class is for any fitness level and can be adjusted to a low or high
impact class depending on the level of fitness you are. Registration Dates: Through

CIRCUIT SENSATION
Are you ready for this new workout that is athletic, intense and more fun than a
three-ring circus??!! Using the motivational power of teamwork and competition in
combination with the balance challenges presented by the Bosu balance workout,
you will discover how to change ordinary circuit workouts into extraOrdinary work-
outs. The class will also use jump ropes, medicine balls, mini hurdles and weighted

For those of you who get up with the chickens, joining these early morning classes

class will use dumbbells and dynabands that will put you to the test with added

BOOTCAMP!
3-2-1...GO! Are you ready to really kick your fitness into high gear? Join Jason
Collins for challenging workouts that have the ability to push your limits or simply
give you more variety. The intensity is up to you! All fitness levels are welcome! This
class will teach you basic functional bodyweight movements to include the squat,
push up and much more! These workouts are designed to optimize the 10 pillars of
fitness (Cardio, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility,
Balance and Accuracy). Your results will be tracked week to week so you can see
your own progress! Class structure will include warm up, technique/form practice,
workout, finisher and cool down. You will need to bring the following to class: 5'-1"
PVC pipe (for stretching and teaching tool), one baseball, jump rope and water/towel.

NORWALK FAMILY TAE KWON DO
Maria Boden is the new head instructor of the school which is under new owner-
ship and offers programs for ages 5 through adults. The classes are separated by
rank (beginners and advanced) and students meet twice a week. Class meets Tues-
days and Thursdays, in the" Oviatt gym or multi-purpose room. Times will vary de-
pending on location due to school activities.
We also offer a Little Dragon program designed for children ages five to seven.
Little Dragons meet twice a week, This program is run concurrently with the begin-
ning class.
All programs consist of hand and foot techniques, forms, self-defense, lessons
and instructions on topics such as respect, self-discipline and perseverance. Compe-
tition is also available for those students who are interested. Competition teaches
sportsmanship, gives confidence and allows the students to use the skills they have
learned in class.
Families are strongly encouraged to join and train together. We found that the
kids learn better when one or both of their parents/guardians are learning alongside
of them in class. Cost per session: Little Dragons (twice a week): Norwalk resident

WINE! WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
The word is getting out about Iowa's delicious wine, as some of the state's best
white wines that are beginning to pick up awards in national competitions. Cold-
climate grape hybrids are fueling a growing Iowa wine ndustry. Join us in a class
setting to learn all about the wine industry in the great state of Iowa! During this
class you will learn about the different variety of grapes grown in Iowa, the process
of making wine and have the opportunity to sample diverse wines from Two Saints
Winery, a local winery. Registration Dates: Through January 3; Class Date: January

SENIOR CITIZEN EXERCISE
Everyone age 55 and older is invited to attend a free exercise program that will
include stretching and toning. We will meet at the Norwalk Christian Church lo-
cated at 701 Main St. This program will run until the end of May. Days: Monday and
Thursday; Time: 10-10:30 a.m.
SENIOR CITIZEN WII BOWLING
Do you miss the game of bowling? Not quite as spry as you used to be. We invite
you to try the game of Wii bowling. This game mimics actions performed in real life
bowling without having to travel to a bowling alley. Each week teams will be as-
signed for those who show up and we will have a little competition. This program
will continue until March. (Will take off during the holidays.) Place: Norwalk Public
Safety Bldg; Time: Thursdays, 1:30-3 p.m.
WELL-SEASONED POTLUCK
(The meat as well as the people)
All are invited, age 55 or older, to attend a potluck dinner to enjoy and socialize
with the Parks and Recreation staff. Meat, tableware and coffee/beverage are pro-
vided. Dust off the cookbooks and be creative to bring a side dish and/or dessert to
share with everyone. After the meal we will have some form of entertainment from
local talent. Let us know your email address and we will send out reminders with
what meat we plan to have on that day. Call the office to register two days before the
