LETTER
Concluded from p. 1
letter. The Chief and his crew did not pick up their tools
and leave. Instead, they began moving tables, lots of
tables and dozens of chairs. When the flooded area Was
vacated, someone returned to the fire station hnd ar-
rived with several squeegees. This crew worked with
Tim and me until all the standing water was removed.
This, I had not expected. Mike Myer of Myer Lawn Ser-
• vice stopped by the church to give me an invoice for
sanding our parking lot in last week's ice storm. When
he saw what was happening, he ran home for a pair of
boots and joined us. No one left until the water was re-
moved.
I have lived in this city for twenty-four years now. I
am continually amazed with the quality of our neigh-
bors. We at St. John's want to publicly thank Chief Dustin
Huston, Assistant Chief Ryan Coburn, Captain Doug
Richardson, Fire Medic Chet Darst and Mike Myer who
did not quit until the job was done.

"The codfish lays ten thousand eggs,
The homely hen lays one.
The codfish never cackles
To tell you what she's done.
And so we scorn the codfish,
While the humble hen we prize,
Which only goes to show you
That it pays to advertise."
