Box 325, Norwalk, IA50211 Member of: National Newspaper Association O Iowa Newspaper Association OBITUARY GEORGE ROBERT HELMERS A graveside service was held Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter for George Robert Helmers, 84, Norwalk, who died Sunday, Jan. 20, after a ong battle with cancer. Mr. Heimers was born February 26, 1928 in }[ardy. He was w.-}l known and respected in his life-long ca- reer in the :;ewer/construction business. Survivors include his daughters, Suzy Mrzena, Patty (Gary) Bishop and Vicki (Jeff) Farrell; five grandchil- dren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; iep-children , Erni., (Shawna) Bunch, Kathy Wyman, Diana (Darren) Btmch, Cindy Beaton and Russell B w ch; many step-grandchildren and step-great- grandchild "on. Burial was at the Cedar Township Memorial Cem- etery in Fremont. Mr. Dalbey was born November 20, 1924 at Highland Center to Sea- born Vance and Elizabeth Cobler Dalbey, one of 16 children. He was joined in marriage to Virginia Ann Aldridge March 26, 19,49 in Altoona, to which five children were born. He re- tired from John Deere Ottumwa Works October 31, 1983 after 37 years of service. Following retirement, Mr. Dalbey helped several neighboring farmers with spring planting, fall har- vest and also had a small herd of cattle. He served in the army during World War II and was a 50 year member of the American Legion OB Nelson Post #3, as well as a lifetime mem- ber of the UAW and the Fremont United Method- ist Church. He enjoyed the neighborhood card club, the 40's Club in Ottumwa, hanging with the guys at Wayne's Tire and when they moved off their farm to Fremont, the morning men's coffee group in Fre- mont. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Virginia; sons, Craig of Ottumwa, Bryan (Sally) of E1 Cajon, CA; daughters, Paula (Tom) Greteman of Nor- walk, Lisa (Nell) A1- bertson of Fremont and Tracy (LeRoy) Dalbey Short of Independence, MO; 12 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers, Chester, An- thony, Albert, Leonard, Eugene, Orville, .Lloyd, William and Donald; six sisters, Clara Wymer, Della Osing, Vera Franklin, Mable Teeter, Francis Kirk Pirtle and Margaret Blanchard. OBITUARY CHARLES HALBACH Memorial services were held Sunday, Jan. 20, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola for Charles Wil- liam Halbach, 51, Nor- walk, who died Thursda36 Jan. 17, at his home. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Survivors include his wife, Angle; children, Mat- thew (Alyssa) Halbach, Eric (Ashley) Halbach and Katelyn (Jamie Hester) Halbach; granddaughter, Lityana; father and mother-in-law, Timothy and Deborah Benge; brother-in-law, Josh (Far- rah) Benge; sister-in-law, Christy (Todd) Willson; mother, Rosanne Halbach; sisters, Sandra Porter and Tammy Halbach; and sev- eral nieces and nephews. OBITUARY ELSIE MILLER A private family service has been planned for Elsie M. Miller, 97, Waukee, who died Tuesday, Jan. t5, in Des Moines. She was the daughter of Lee and Eliza- beth Bennett and had worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 25 years. She loved dancing and playing cards. Survivors include three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Michelle) Pritchard of Norwalk, Diane (Dan) Perina of Omaha, NE and Lisa Smith of Boise, ID; and five great-grandchil- dren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sis- ter, Dorothy Guye; and husbands, Clarence Pritc- hard and Robert Miller; and a son, Wayne Prit- chard.
