OBITUARY OBITUARY JUNE BERRY EDMOND JOSEPH SULLIVAN after working there 31 V football, He really years. enjoyed dogs, and June Berry, 80, died Wednesday evening, January 9th, 2019 at home in surrounded by her family. June was born June 1st. 1938 in Norwalk, Iowa, to Ivan and Golda Terry. She attended and graduated from Norwalk Schools. On June lst, 1957 she married Henry Berry at the Norwalk United Methodist Church. June and Hank were blessed with six children and raised their family in the house on Elm where they lived for 60 years. June worked. as a secretary until she became a full time mom. She retired from Farm- land Insurance Company Norwalk ‘ June was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader and served on the Scouting board. She was an Eastern Star member and held many positions in that organization. June is survived by her children, Shelia (Doug) Clement, Jeff (Janet), Danny (Alicia), Tim (Mona), and Jay (Bernie); a son-inelaw, Mike Page]; a sister, Alice Allyn; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 6]. years, Hank, parents, Ivan and Golda Terry; daughter, Karolyn Pagel; daughter-in-law, Lisa Berry; brothers, Ivan, Andy, and Fred; and sisters, Lenora and Mildred. A Celebration of Life Service was held Tuesday, January 15th at O’Leary Funeral Services in Norwalk. Burial followed in the Norwalk Cemetery. OBITUARY JEROME “JERRY” WILLIAM ESSNER ' Jerome (Jerry) William Essner, 89,Martensdale, passed away on January 19th, 2019. Jerry was born on October 12th, 1929 to Jerome JosephX. Essner and Catherine Josephine Essner in Browns Valley, MN. He married Betty Lou Williams (deceased) in Los Angeles,‘ CA, where they had their six children, Elizabeth Essner, Janet Thompson, Judith Ostler, Jeffrey Essner, Russell Essner (deceased) and Jill Dodds-Essner. Jerry grew up in Minnesota where he developed a great love for the outdoors. He passed this passion on to his children through a lifetime camping, hunting and fishing. Jerry was a dedicated and caring father and worked hard to provide for his family. He will be greatly missed. A service was held January 20th, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Norwalk. Contact Brian at SIS—7794290 Edmond Joseph Sullivan was born to Edmond and Elizabeth (Lasko) Sulli- van on February 25th, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa. E.J. attended and graduated from Albia High School, and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Drake University. He worked for the Auditor’s Office at the State of Iowa for 30 years. He loved all the Iowa Hawkeye sports, especially basketball and watching television; but mostly, he loved his family above all else. E.J. died on Monday, January 7th, 2019 with family by his side. He lived 93 years and 10 months, and was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary. Those left to cherish E.J.’s memory are his sons, Mark, Greg and Bob; a granddaughter Taisa Jones (Chad Lindberg); two great- grandchildren William (Holly) and Destiny as well as five great-great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service was held January 16th at O’Leary Funeral Services in Norwalk. Burial was in St Mary’s Cemetery, Albia, Iowa. To leave an online condolence for the family, please visit www.01eary funeralscom. Jeffrey Lynn Hall, Sr., 77, Des Moines, died Thursday, December 29th, 20 18 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Jeffrey Hall was born in Des Moines on August 20th, 1941 to John Hall and Emma Best. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1960. He served in the United States Army from 1963- 1965. Jeff married Katheryn Moose, and to this union they had three children. Jeff was a Page Three Congressional Staff Person for Leonard Boswell. In his free time, Jeff especially enjoyed fishing, and was an avid fan of all sports. He kept himself very v busy throughout his life volunteering for a number of organizations in the Des Moines area. i . Surviving 'Jeff are his three children, Kimberly Hall, Jeff Hall, Jr., and Holly Hall; his mother, Emma Best; grandson, Tyler Hall and a host of nieces and nephews Jeff is preceded in death by his wife, Katheryn; father, John Hall; a sister, Jennifer Foster; and brother—in- law, Earl Moose. A funeral service was held Thursday, January 24, 2019 at O’Leary Funeral & Cremation -Services in Norwalk. Burial was in Highland Memory Garden Ceme- tery, Des Moines, Iowa. Warren County Senior Meal Program Seeks More Participants The Warren County Senior Meal Program would like to reach out to senior citizens over the age of 60 who are home bound and are in need of a home- delivered meal. All meals are cooked fresh daily at the meal site in Martensdale. There are no income guidelines to participate in the program. City of N orwalk Dog License Applications A reminder that dog licenses in the City of Norwalk are coming due for the year. You are required by law to annually license all dogs six months or older. Licenses are due by March Blst. On April 1st, a $10 per dog late fee will apply. He also worked as a Annual Knightsof Columbus Pork Loin Dinner/Dance The annual Norwalk Knights of Columbus Pork Loin Dinner and Dance will be held on Saturday, February 9th, from 6:00 pm. to 11:00 p.m., with dinner being served starting around 7:00 pm. The event will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Social Hall, located at 720 Orchard Hills Drive in Norwalk. ‘ The Knights will serve pork loin, baked potato, green beans, salad and dinner roll. There will also be a silent auction, live auction, and raffle. This event raises money for scholarships for graduating seniors in the N orwalk School District. Tickets are available for purchase from the St. John the Apostle office Monday-Friday from 9:00 am. to 3:00 pm.
