Pageliour N/Warren Town and County News N orwalk Parks and Recreation Department Information provided by Nancy Kuehl and Shanda Lewiston Registration forms for events are available 24 hours a day at the Parks and Recreation office (1 100 Chatham Avenue, inside the Norwalk Public Safety Building) or print them off our website: www.morwalk.iowa.gov. You can mail registration forms, place them in our drop box, or walk in. Office hours are 8:00 am. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The drop box is open 24/7. If you have any questions, please call us at 515—981-9206. On—line registration is also available on our website: www.norwalk.iowa.gov. Our fall and winter brochure is available online, or there are copies you can pick up at the Parks and Rec office. We are now accepting Park Shelter House reservations for-April through October, and Pool Party reservations for the 2019 season. Norwalk’s newest park, Warrior Park, 51 1 Orchard Hills Drive, is now open for use. Please use sidewalks and stay off the grass as it was recently seeded. Please call us or visit our website for further details on the following events: Registrations dates for upcoming events: Craft Club - Registration for February class through February 8 Adult Pick-Up Basketball Games — Registration open until full W ’ Spring Soccer Programs ~ Registration through February 10 Non Registration events Family Open Gym — Sundays through February 24th, 2-4 pm, Oviatt Gym Family Bingo Night - Sunday February 3rd, 5-7 pm, Norwalk Easter Public Library Senior Exercise — Mondays/Wednesdays @ 10:00 a.m., Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church OPALS Potluck ~ February 8th, 11:30 1:00 Public Safety Building Craft Club Get out your glue and imaginations for this program. Children in 3rd through 5th grades at Lakewood elementary are invited to join. They meet Visit us at www.morwalkjowagov once a month after school on early out Wednesdays to make special arts and crafts projects. Instructor is Nancy Kuehl. Adult Pick-Up Basketball Games Pick-up basketball games will be offered for adults. Please bring clean tennis shoes to wear for the games. This program is only for residents who live within the Norwalk School District. Spring Soccer Programs Soccer programs available include Just For Kicks (children at least 4 years old and not in kindergarten), Kindergarten Soccer, and Youth Soccer (grades 1 through 7). All programs start the week of March 25th, weather permitting. Family Open Gym Shoot hoops or play a pick-up game with friends or family. Bring clean tennis shoes for the floor. Only residents in the Norwalk school district are eligible to participate. No registration required; just show up and play. Family Bingo Night Stop by the library on Sunday evenings and enjoy a game of Bingo. Bring munchies or snacks to share with all, and we will provide the beverage. All ages are invited to participate. Bingo callers will be Norwalk Lions Club members. OPALS Older People with Active Life Styles Senior Citizen Exercise Everyone ages 55 and older is invited to attend a free exercise program that will include stretching and toning. We will meet at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (new location) located at 515 Sunset Drive. Registration is not required. This is a continuous , program every Monday and Wednesday from 10- 10:30 am. Well-Seasoned Potluck (The meat as well as the people) All are invited, age 55 or older, to attend a potluck dinner to enjoy and socialize with the Park and Recreation staff. Meat, tableware, and coffee/ beverage are provided. Dust off the cookbooks and be creative to bring a side dish and/or dessert to share with everyone. After the meal we will have some form of entertainment from local talent. Let us know your email address and we will send out reminders with what meat that is prepared on that day. January 16th Greenfield Township theft report. Izaiah Miller, 22, Greenfield Plaza, reported theft of a vehicle license plate. January 17th, Martensdale — wanted person/stolen vehicle/stolen property. Rick Arnold, 42, Martensdale was arrested for probation violation and possession of drug paraphernalia. Greenfield Town ship school bus violation. School bus violation reported by the Norwalk School District. January 18th Martensdale — burglary. James Streyffeler, 58, Norwalk reported burglary to his business. Case remains under investigation. ’ January 19th Cumming — runaway. Todd Coleman, 48, West Des Moines, reported his 15 year old juvenile daughter as a runaway. Shake shakers, sing, move, and read some short books! Monday, February Baby Time, 10:30 am. A special story time for babies up to about 18 monthsand their grownups. Learn lots of songs, rhymes, and bounces! (Fifteen minutes followed by playtime.) Tuesday, February 5 Reading Time, 10:30 am. This storytime focuses on books and pre-reading skills. Read books, sing songs, and do activities! ' Wednesday, February Early Out Wednesdays, 2:30 3:30 pm. Drop-in activities every Wednesday if there is school in Norwalk. No registration required. Best for elementary age children, but all ages welcome. On the 1st Wednesday of the month, it’s Build! Build imaginative creations with LEGO and more. Thursday, February Rhyme Time, 10:30 am.
