A student must earn a grade point average of 3.00-3.49 for 12 or more hours of college work for the semester based on a 4.0 grade average. ................................... The Wartburg College Office of the Vice Presi- dent for Academic Affairs has released the Fall Term 2009 Dean's List. Included from Norwalk were John Maybee, sopho- more, son of the Rev. Timothy and Bette Maybee, and JoHanna Smrcina, . sophomore, daughter of Richard and Susan Smrcina. To qualify for Wartburg's Fall Term Dean's List, students must earn a 3.5 grade point av- erage (on a 4.0 scale) in at least four course credits for the term. Three of the four course credits must be graded with a traditional letter grade. Students with incompletes are not eli- gible for the Dean's List. Adam Deppe, Prole, has been named to the Dean's List for academic excellence during the Fall 2009 semester at South Dakota State University (SDSU) in Brookings, SD. To earn Dean's List dis- tinctions in SDSU's eight colleges, students must have completed a mini- mum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Deppe is a student in the College of Agriculture & Biological Sciences. Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO has an- nounced the Dean's List for the Fall 2009 semester. This honor recognizes stu- dents who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Birth Amber and David Baker, Norwalk, are the parents of a son, Brayden Ray, born Tuesda Jan. 26, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Brayden weighed 9 lbs., 5 oz. and was 21 in. long. More than 215 degrees 4-H All Stars Des Moines Metro Middle School City Swim Meet Lincoln Middle School Swimmers from Norwalk are Audrey Pritchard, Alex Bennett and Abby Pritchard. Photo submitted. Three eighth grade girls from Norwalk participated on the Lincoln Middle School Swim Team from .October through December in 2009. These three swimmers brought home several awards from the Des Moines Metro Middle School City Swim Meet Thursday, Dec. 17. Swimmers at the meet were members of the Lincoln, Hoover, Roosevelt, North and East middle school teams. Audrey Pritchard, daughter of Susie Pritchard and Mike Pritchard, was on the gold medal award-winning 200-Yard Medley Relay. The relay team time was 2:07.84 with Audrey swimming a 50-yard butterfly as the third member of the relay. She also swam in the 50-Yard Freestyle event and placed sixth overall with a time of 31:76. In the 50-Yard Butterfly event, Audrey swam with a time of 33:16, placing third overall among sixth, seventh and eighth graders and first among all the eighth grade competitors. Audrey's last event was the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay and her relay receiv.ed a silver medal with a time of 1:55.14. Alex Bennett, daughter of Dennis and Angela Bennett, swam freestyle on the tenth place 200-Yard Medley Relay team. For her 50-Yard Freestyle event she earned a time of 34:72 and placed ninth of all eighth graders. Bennett also swam in the 50- Yard Breaststroke event and placed seventh overall among sixth, seventh and eighth graders and fifth among all the eighth grade competitors with a time of 45:15. Abby Pritchard, daughter of Susie Pritchard and Mike Pritchard, swam freestyle on the eighth place 200-Yard Medley Relay team. For her 50-Yard Freestyle event she earned a time of 35:00 and placed eleventh of all eighth graders. Abby also swam in the 50 Yard Breaststroke event and placed ninth overall among sixth, seventh and eighth graders and sixth among all the eighth grade competitors with a time of 46:00. Alex and Abby both swam on the eighth place 200-Yard Freestyle Relay. All three girls intend to continue swimming on the Lincoln Age Group Swim Team through the end of winter. -, Parks and Recreation Fourth Grade Dodge Ball Winners Jenny Sinclair's class was the winner of the fourth grade Dodge Ball Tournament held the month of January at Lakewood Elementary. After battling days off from school with the weather, the finals arrived with Diana Well's class vs. Sinclair's class.
