Then Nancy DeLay and Justin DeLay (4-H'er) talked to them about the different equipment used in sewing and demonstrated how to use a rotary cutter. The youth then got hands-on experience on the machines by sewing their gift bags. Many 4-H'ers commented that they loved being able to sew on the machines[ One 4-H'er stated that she received a sewing machine for Christmas, but had never used it. She now felt that she could go home and try it out. Another 4-H'er was heard telling her mom, "I'm going to go home and sew pillowcases by myself tonight!" It was great to see ideas flying and motivation sparked at Monday's workshop.
