Pinewood Derby
Cub Scout Pack 103, Norwalk, held their annual Pinewood Derby race January 26 at Fellowship Community Church. This is an event that all the boys look forward to.
There are many rules to follow, but all the challenges are well worth it in the end. It's rewarding to see the boys' faces as their cars race. The memories will last a lifetime. The
fastest car from each den went on to the district race that was held in Martensdale. Trophies were given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each den. One car from each den also
received an award for best design. There was also an award for the overall best design. Any boy currently in 1st thru 4th grade can join Cub Scouts.
Boys in the 1st grade are Tigers. This is their first year for the Pinewood Derby.
Forthese boys, the race is considered a success if all the cars make it through the
finish line. This year, they did!
Boys in the 2nd grade are Wolves. For most of them, this was their second year
racing. More experience equals faster cars!
Boys in the 3rd grade are Bears. The confidence level for these boys is at its peak
and the competition gets much stronger!
