The Arbor Day Founda-
tion is making it easier for
everyone to celebrate the
arrival of spring through
planting trees.
Join the Arbor Day
Foundation in March 2012
and receive 10 free white
flowering dogwood trees.
"White flowering dog-
woods will add year-
round beauty to your
home and neighborhood,"
said John Rosenow, chief
executive and founder of
the Arbor Day Founda-
tion. "Dogwoods have
showy spring flowers,
scarlet autumn foliage and
red berries that will attract
songbirds all winter."
The free trees are part of
the nonprofit Foundation's
Trees for America cam-
paign.
The trees will be ship-
ped postpaid at the right
time for planting, between
March I and May 31, with
enclosed planting instruc-
tions. The 6- to 12-inch
trees are guaranteed to

Changes at
Norwalk Family Physicians
Norwalk Family Physicians has made some changes
during the past couple of months. First, the clinic has
upgraded their x-ray services to a digital process..The
digital films are available immediately at the physician's
computer to review with the patient. In addition, the
films are all over-read by a radiologist at Iowa Radiol-
ogy. This change will affect patients because the clinic
will bill insurance for doing the x-ray and now the radi-
ology office will bill insurance for the interpretation of
the x-ray. However, the overall cost of x-rays should
remain constant.
Secondly, effective March 3, 2012, the clinic has ex-
tended their Saturday hours to begin at 8 a.m. and run
until 12 noon. Patients can call the clinic beginning at 8
a.m. to schedule a time to be seen on Saturday morn-
ings for acute, urgent care.
Lastly, Dr. Patricia Newland has changed her clinic
schedule. She is now working all day on Wednesdays
and working Thursday mornings only. "By making this
change, we can better accommodate patients on Wednes-
day afternoons, which is a busier time in our clinic than
Thursday afternoons," stated Ronda Montgomery,
Clinic Administrator.
"We are constantly looking for ways to better serve
our patients and community," said Montgomery. "We
are always open to ideas that we can implement to reach
this goal."
Harkin Encourages Iowa Students to
Apply For Summer Internships
Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) has announced that his
Washington, D.C. and Iowa offices are now accepting
internship applications for Summer 2012.
Summer interns assist the staff in casework, legisla-
tion and in the press department working in a variety
of policy areas. Responsibilities include performing
office duties, writing and researching current legisla-
tive issues and acting as general support to the Senator's
staff. Internships are designed for collegeuDgtergra:du-
ates, students seeking a masters or law degree and re-
cent graduates.
"Years ago, I interned for Representative Neal Smith
in the House of Representatives. The experience pro-
vided me with an invaluable firsthand education in how
government operates and was the start of my political
career. I encourage bright, young men and women who
share interest in public service to apply for an intern-
ship in my offices," Harkin said.
Part-time and full-time internships are available in
Harkin's Washington, D.C. personal office, on the
Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Com-
mittee that Harkin chairs and in his five Iowa offices
(Des Moines, Davenport, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids and
Sioux City). The deadline for submitting an applica-
tion is March 16, 2012.
Students who are interested in becoming an intern
can apply via the web at http://harkin.senate.gov/stu-
dents/intern. Questions can also be directed to the In-
tern Coordinator in Harkin's Washington, D.C. office at
202-224-3254. Senator Harkin also recorded this video
about the benefits of interning in his office: http://
