You can mail registration forms, place them in our drop box or walk in. Our office is located at 1100 Chatham Ave. (Public Safety Bldg.). Of- fice hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. SNOWMAN CONTEST *Friends and Family Eighth Annual Snowman Contest* This contest will run through the end of March. Con- cessibn stand bucks will be awarded to the top place finisher. Take a picture of your snowman with its cre- ators and send it to the Parks and Recreation office. Be sure to include names, ages and phone numbers of the participants. Photos may be printed in the next Fall/ Winter Parks and Rec Brochure. MAD SCIENCE OF IOWA PROGRAMMING FOR NORWALK 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR 3rd - 5th at Lakewood - Second Semester 2011-2012 This semester Mad Science of Iowa is offering our NEW "Discovery, Forensics & Security" Enrichment Program for your children right after school! Session topics for this brand new program are: Junior Detec- tives, Spy Academ Sleuths on the Scene, Funky Fo- rensics, Secret Agent Locators and Evidentially Evi- dence! This is a super fun way for your child to spark imaginative learning outside the traditional school day. Mad Science is hands-on, inquiry-based, interactive and entertaining. We use trained, dynamic instructor-pre- senters with professional equipment and materials to deliver age-appropriate, enjoyable and enriching sdence activities. The children have so much fun they almost do not realize they are gaining a clear understanding of what science is and how it affects the world around them! We communicate real world practical uses of the science principles. Each of the four - 1 1/2 hour sessions includes one to two of our popular Make-&-Takes so enjoyed by the children and appreciated by the parents. Register: By Sunday, March 25; Cost: $68 (after March 25 for $79). Price includes all supplies, take home mate- rials and the Mad Scientist's travel. BABYSITTING CLINIC Designed for students 5th grade and above, Babysitting Basics teaches you to become a first-rate babysitter. Babysitting is an important job. This class will teach you basic first aid and rescue breathing, caring for infants and young children, safety and how to handle emergencies, responsibilities of a baby sitter, what par- ents expect of you, age-appropriate toys and activities. Upon completion of all activities you will receive a Babysitting Basics Certificate. Registration: Through March 16; Program Date: Thursday and Friday, March 22 and 23; Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Location: Norwalk Public Safety Building; Instructor:. Little Dragons meet twice a week. This program is run concurrently with the beginning class. Maximum number of students in the Little Dragon program is 20, so register early. All programs consist of hand and foot techniques, forms, self-defense and lessons and instructions on top- ics such as respect, self-discipline and perseverance. Competition is also available for those students who are interested. Competition teaches sportsmanship, gives confidence and allows the students to use the skills they have learned in class.
