Norwalk Warriors Official Publication for the Norwalk Community School District Page Eight N/Warren Town and County News Thursday, March 26, 2015 4-H Junior Lock-in The cork used in wine bot- tles comes from the cork oak. This tree is one of the few that can withstand "bark harvesting" because it has two layers of bark. Deadline for ads, legals and stories is Noon Friday! Friday, March 13 into Saturday morning, March 14 brought about a chance for leadership from War- ren County Extension's Se- nior 4-H'ers as they hosted a Junior Lock-in for youth in 4th-6th grade. This event was held at the Southeast Warren High School in Liberty Center. Juniors were en- couraged to bring a friend and in total there were 35 4-H'ers and 23 "friends of 4-H'ers" who attended the night of shenanigans. Senior 4-H'ers spent many months planning the event, induding asking local businesses for dona- tions such as cups and a few bonus pizzas from Little Caesars. Throughout the evening they facilitated numerous activities like dodgeball, team relays and seeing who could build the highest tower out of plastic party cups. It was a long night for these teens as some of their younger counterparts didn't shut their eyes to sleep until very late (if they shut them at all), but in the end they said it was all worth it to see how much fun was had. "We should do this, like, every month," one of the juniors excitedly stated To find out more about 4-H in Warren County, contact County Youth Co- ordinator Andrea Palmer at 515-961-6237 or ampalmer@iastate.edu.
