Dick and Susan Smrcina, Norwalk, and Phil and
Shana Smith, Osceola, are pleased to announce the en-
gagement and approaching marriage of their children,
Kali Smrcina and Matt Smith.
Miss Smrcina is a 2007 graduate of Buena Visita Uni-
versity and is an In-Home counselor for Children and
Families of Iowa in Des Moines.
Mr. Smith, also a 2007 graduate of Buena Vista Uni-
versity, is an assistant manager at Hy-Vee in Des Moines.
A wedding is planned for May 2010 at St. John the
Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk.

On Grief
A workshgp on grief,
grieving and how to talk to
people in grief will be held
at the Norwalk Public Li-
brary Saturday, April 10,
from 2 to 5 p.m. The work-
shop is sponsored by the
Outreach Committee of
the Norwalk Christian
Church and is open to all
persons in the Norwalk
Community.
The workshop will be
led by Roger F. Miller, au-
thor of What Can I Say?:
How to Talk to People in
Grief. Miller will address
such subjects as the stages
of grief, ways to cope with
fresh grief and how people
can talk with those in grief
in ways that will effec-
tively communicate caring
and empathy.
There is no charge to
participants of the work-

Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Shaw
Couple Exchange Vows
Haley Tyler, daughter of Glen and Julie Tyler of
Norwalk and Ryan Shaw, son of Cheri Sieren of
Cumming were united in marriage Saturday, Aug. 8.
The wedding ceremony was performed by the Rev.
Dayna Kinkade at Westkirk Presbyterian Church in
Urbandale.
Matron of Honor was Courtney Brewer and brides-
maids were Shelby Richardson, Nicki Castellano,
Deanna Hyde and Erin Reed. Junior bridesmaid was
Sydney Shaw and flower girls were Breanna Shaw, Carly
Brewer and Reese Richardson. The bride% personal at-
tendant was Diana Love.
Best man was Rob Shaw and groomsmen were Dustin
Bussanmas, Jared Snyder, Alan Smith and Jon
Goodnight. Luke Brewer was ring bearer and ushers
were Nathan Aver Justin Nelson and Joe Richardson.
Guest book attendants were Brandie, Autumn and
Amber Avery. Vocalists were Chrissy Freed and Michael
Shelledy.
A dinner and dance reception were held at the Scot-
tish Rite Masonic Center in Des Moines, where the hosts
were Charlene and Steve Thomas and Mary and Ed
Wiesing. The couple honeymooned in Kansas City and
now reside in Norwalk.
