John and Deb Marmon have opened their Re/Max
Realty business at 1220 Sunset Dr. in Norwalk. The
Marmons are broker-owners and independent contrac-
tors with Re/Max Realty. Re/Max is a nationally known
company with offices across the United States, with
some locations in other countries. All Re/Max offices
are independently owned and operated. Future plans
are to add agents to their location in Norwalk.
Deb grew up and graduated from the Norwalk
Schools and decided to return to the area in the early
1980's. She and her husband, John, previously worked
with Iowa Realty and decided to open their own realty
business in Norwalk.
The couple has remodeled the area that was previ-
ously occupied by Curves. They added a kitchen, con-
ference room and offices in the newly decorated 1,500
square foot location. A broadcasting system is available
from Re/Max to assist them in training agents needing
further education in obtaining listings, closing deals and
improving their negotiating skills.
Deb stated, "Our clients' needs and wants are our first
concern. If they are happy, we are happy. We are con-
stantly studying and keeping up-to-date on changes in
the real estate and mortgage market to advise our cli-
ents."
Deb feels the prices of homes is stabilizing now and
there is a great inventory of homes available for their
clients to choose from. She stated in this business you
meet a lot of really neat people, from vendors to clients;
it is a people business for sure.
The Marmons will be holding an open house in April,

Planning Alliance

lic meeting to receive com-
ments on proposed
amendments to the Fed-
eral Fiscal Years 2010-2013
Transportation Improve-

Winfrey Chem-Dry is New Norwalk Business

Matt and Gretchen
Winfrey moved their
Winfrey Chem-Dry busi-
ness from Burlington to
Norwalk in December. The
couple currently work out
of their home with
Gretchen serving as office
manager and scheduling
appointments for her hus-
band. Their independently
owned and operated car-
pet and upholstery clean-
ing serves both residential
and commercial custom-
ers in Polk and Warren
Counties.
Matt has earned his cer-
tification though Harris
Research/Chem-Dry in
Logan, UT and also re-
ceived his Institute of In-
spection Cleaning and
Restoration Certification
(IICRC). Chem-Dry pro-
vides 24-hour water dam-
age restoration using ap-
plied structural drying
and also provides fire and
smoke restoration. In ad-
dition Matt does uphol-
stery cleaning, tile and
grout cleaning and special-
izes in pet urine removal.
The latter process is rec-
ommended by the Na-
tional Pediatric Associa-
tion and by veterinarians,
Winfrey said. In the near
future, he also will offer
leather cleaning and resto-
ration.

Chem-Dry cleaning
uses a fraction of the wa-
ter of steam cleaning and
uses a carbonating process
that leaves carpets clean
and dry in one to two
hours rather than the usual
days. The carbonating ex-
traction process and solu-
tions deep clean without
using lots of soapy clean-
ing chemicals. Matt noted
that dirt, dust and aller-
gens are lifted to the sur-
face by carbonated bubbles
and swept away rather

Although the Winfrey
family have not been
Norwalk residents very
long, they are already get-
ting active within the com-
munity. They have joined
the Norwalk Area Cham-
ber of Commerce and Wil-
low Creek Baptist Church.
Matt will be working with
Jordan's soccer team
through Norwalk Parks
and Recreation Depart-
ment this spring.
Matt went to college at
Southeast Community
College in West
Burlington and Gretchen
went to Faith Baptist Bible
College in Ankeny. During
the summer they both vol-
unteer at the Iowa Regular
Baptist Children's Camp in
Clear Lake.
