OBITUARY
CHERI LYNN ENGELBRECHT
Cheri Lynn Engelbrecht,
52, of Prairie City (and for-
merly of Elkhart, IN), died
peacefully Thursday morn-
ing, April 9, in the comfort
of her parent's home.
Celebration of Life Ser-
vices were Tuesda April
14, at O'Leary Celebration
of Life Center in Norwalk.
Memorial contributions in

Cheri Lynn, the oldest
child of Larry and Iris
(Browning) Snead, was
born April 20, 1962 in
Kanawha Ci,WV. At an
early age her family moved
to Elkhart, IN where she
grew up and graduated
from Elkhart Central High
School in 1980. Following
high school, she attended
Baptist Bible College,
Springfield, MO, graduat-
ing with a degree in Ele-
mentary Education. Cheri
later earned her Early
Childhood Degree at Bethel
College in Mishawaka, IN.
Cheri was working at
Crown International in
Elkhart when she met the
love of her life, Dave Engel-
brecht. They were married
August 24, 1991 at Kern
Road Mennonite Church in
South Bend, IN. Cheri and
Dave really enjoyed life to-
gether, talking, going to res-
taurants, taking care of their

dog, Brahma, and being
with family They moved to
Iowa to be near Cheri's
brother and his family.
Cheri's nieces and nephews
were very special to her; she
often felt as they were like
her children.
Those left to celebrate
her life include her hus-
band, Dave of Prairie City;
her parents, Larry and Iris
Snead of Prairie City; a
brother and sister-in-law,
Billy and Jan Snead of A1-
toona; her nieces and neph-
ews, Nate (Kelsey), Jeremy
(Claire), Patsy and Sara
(Ryan); and two great-neph-
ews, Sammy and Tucker.
We will miss Cheri's gig-
gles and soulful youth and
jo3 which she brought to all
of our lives. She impacted
so many children's lives
through her teaching and
love. It comforts us to know
that Cheri is finally with her
Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ.

DONOVAN P. HASCALL
Donovan P. HascaU, 78,
Ankeny, formerly of
Norwalk, died Friday,
April 10. A Celebration of
Life Service will be held at
11 a.m. Saturda3 April 18,
at the Norwalk United
Methodist Church. There
will be a visitation with the
family from 5 to 7 p.m. Fri-
day at O'Leary Celebra-
tion of Life Center in

Donovan Paul the son
of Paul and Louisa (Teale)
Hascall, was born July 8,
1936 in Erickson, NE. At an
early age Paul's family
moved to Davis City and
later to Sheldon, where he
attended school and
graduated from Sheldon
High School in 1954. In
high school, he met his fu-
ture bride, Jane Ruth Lind,
who also graduated
Sheldon High SChool in
1955. He attended Univer-
sity of Iowa and was in-
volved in ROTC for a year
before enlisting into the
United States Navy. He
served his country faith-
fully as a Petty Officer on
the aircraft carriers, USS
Saipan and the USS Valley
Forge. While Don was
serving in the military,
Jane graduated Iowa
Methodist Nursing
School. Following his
honorable discharge, they
were married December
28, 1958 in Sheldon.
Don and Jane moved to
Moab, UT, where he
worked for the National
Park Service at Arches Na-
tional Monument and
Natural Bridges National
Monument. They returned
to Iowa where Don
worked for United Air-
lines in Des Moines for 39
years. He worked in many
capacities of which his fa-
vorite was working in the
Donovan P. Hascall
freight office, retiring in
December 1998. The fam-
ily made their home in
Norwalk from 1970 to
2005 before moving to
Ankeny. In Norwalk they
raised their two sons, John
and Doug, and were mem-
bers of the Norwalk
United Methodist Church.
Don and Jane enjoyed
Dixieland Jazz Music and
traveled extensively to jazz
festivals and other attrac-
tions. In addition to Cali-
fornia, Hawaii and many
other states, they also vis-
ited Italy, England,
Canada, Ireland, Australia,
New Zealand and Tasma-
nia.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; a sis-
ter, Delphine; and a sister-
in-law, Margaret Larson.
Those left to cherish
Dons memory are his wife
of 56 years, Jane of
Ankeny; his sons, John
(Janeane) and their chil-
dren, David and Lyra of
Ames, and Doug (Shan-
non) and their son, Ryan,
of Cypress, TX; two sisters-
in-law, Lois Jamison of
Moab, UT, and Mary
Meijer of Rocklin, CA; a
brother-in-law, John Lind
of Pryor, OK; and a special
cousin, who provided
comfort and support to
Don during this time,
Deanna Kleiber of Des
Moines.
