Bohlenders Honored as Norwalk Chamber's Jack and Sue Bohlender were selected as Norwalk Chamber of Commerce Community Footprint Award winners, and were honored at the annual chamber banquet held at Echo Valley Country Club. The Norwalk Chamber 2018 Community Footprint honorees are recognized for their tireless work, their financial investments, their countless hours of volunteerism, and their example of the value of stepping up, stepping in and leaving one's footprints on Norwalk. Jack & Sue Bohlender knew the future they foresaw for Norwalk over 25 years ago would require an organization to provide leadership for businesses like their own Norwalk Ready Mix so they often talked with others about the need. In fact, those early discussions often took place in meetings at the Norwalk school cafeteria. Sue Bohlender was especially enthusiastic about the idea and convinced the group it should form a Chamber of Commerce. Not only did that happen but Sue, a founding member, became the organization's second president. Jack, too, was a dedicated and tireless volunteer, often refusing the limelight while making a huge difference for the growing community. Today the Chamber organization they helped found thrives along with their company Norwalk Ready Mix which is one of the community's largest employers and civic supporters. Congratulations to the Bohlenders. Information for this article was provided by the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce.
