SCHOOL and SPORTS I Official Publication for the Norwalk Community School District [ Norwalk Warriors Page Eight Norwalk's Girls Golf team finally took to the course and began a busy week of five meets in eight days. Tuesday, April 13, in a dual at Pella Christian, Norwalk earned a split with Pella Christian as the varsity fell to the Eagles 208-227. Norwalk was led by Molly Hill with a 50 and Carley Kleppe a 51. Erin Bttnce and Ashley Mahlstedt rounded out the scoring for Norwalk, shooting 62 and 64. The junior varsity took the meet .winning 275-277, with Amanda Simmer- man, Taylor Houchin and Jordyn Cox all shooting under 70-for-nine to gain the victory. Also compet- ing at Pella were Liz Purdum, Rachel Hoodjer, Kaitlyn Ludlow and Brandie Robson. Norwalk has 22 girls on this year's team, the larg- est roster in 15 years. There are 15 ninth graders-Tay- lor Bair, Lauren Bennett, Rockie Brooks, Jordyn Cox, Megan Downing, Caitlin Ferden, Taylor Houchin, Brittany Hunt, Kaitlyn Ludlow, Jenna Manatrey, Marie Putbrese, N/Warren Town and County News Lady Warriors Begin Season Brandie Robson, Kaitlyn Swisher and Amanda Wilkin; four sophomores- Erin Bunce, Rachel Hoodjer, Liz Purdum and Jade Sells; three juniors- Ashley Mahlstedt, Carley Kleppe and Hannah Simmerman: Molly Hill is the only senior. The Warriors next trav- eled to Marshalltown to play the 18-hole Bobcat Invitational. The Warriors took eleventh place. Hill tied for tenth place out of over 90 golfers with an 89. Kleppe finished with 100, Purdum shot a 127 and Mahlstedt a 127. Houchin and Sells also participated for the varsity. The JV was led by Downing's 115, Cox shot 125, Lauren Bennett 134 and Brittany Hunt 137. Jenna Manatrey also played. Saturday, April 17, the Warriors traveled to Winterset for another 18- hole event. The Warriors took third place. Defend- ing 3A state champion Carroll won with Winterset taking second. Perr Clarke and Chariton rounded out the field. Kleppe earned runner-up honors with an 89. Hill fin- ished with a 99. Simmerman finished with 121 and Cox 126. Purdum and Mahlstedt also played for Norwalk. Jade Sells reacts to her tee shot.
