Box 325, Nbrwalk, IA50211 Member of: National Newspaper Iowa Newspaper Association Association OBITUARY ROBERT I Robert Daniel Rater, 53, Eau Claire, WI died March 24 in Eau Claire of a heart attack. A memorial service " will be at Eureka Cemetery north of Fontanelle at a later date. Mr. Rater was born Au- gust 2, 1960 in Greenfield to Evelyn and Dan Rater. He graduated from Clarinda High School in 1979 and attended Iowa Western Community Col-- lege in Council Bluffs. He worked at the University of Iowa Hospital before moving to Wisconsin. Survivors include his mother, Evelyn of West Des Moines; sisters, Ruth of Sacamento, CA, Risa of Colorado, Rae Jean (Tim) Lepird of Carroll and brother, Ryan of Winterset.. Also nephews and Robert Rater nieces, Geoffrey Gonzalez of Tallahassee, FL, Patrick Gonzalez of Denver, CO, Paul Gonzalez of New York, NY, Stephanie Gonzalez of Los Angeles, CA, Jeremiah Lepird of Hastings, NE, Erin (Shawn) Rush of Norwalk, Joshua and Jordyn Lepird of Carroll and Reagan and "Roy Rater of Winterset. OBITUARY RALPH "BUD" REINING Services were held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens Saturday, April 26, for Ralph'Bud" Reining, 92, of Laurens. He died February 16. Mr. Reining was united in marriage August 24, 1942 to Dorothy Halder. They had three children, Gloria and twins Janice and Jimmy. He proudly served three years in World War II receiving many awards, including a Purple Heart. After the war, the couple made their home in Laurens, Des Moines and Estherville, returning to Laurens in 1960. He was a barber, school bus driver, postman and manager of the Laurens Theater. For many years, he and wife were Mr. and Mrs. Santa in Laurens, He served as a "Fashion Consultant" for Des Moines Register Columnist Chuck Offenberger and was known as ,Ralph of LaurensT' He and Dorothy had a lot of fun with this and tried to bring back saddle shoes. The couple drove the baggage truck for RAGBRAI for many years. Survivors include his daughter, Janice (Larry) Bloss of Des Moines; granddaughters, Lauri (Matt) Meneough of Norwalk and Jenifer (Patrick) Wolfe of Altoona; his nine great-grandchildren, Brandon and Blake Schmitt, Keegan and Kayleigh Meneough, Reed, Drew, Alea, Kate and Jack Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; son, Jimmy and daughter, Gloria. _ Memorial contributions mav be made to the Laurens Library or a charity of your choice. For online condolences, visit powersfh.net. OBITUARY KENNETH LAVERNE ARBOGAST Kenneth Laverne Arbo- gast, the son of Doyle and Fannie (LaRue) Arbogast, was born July 24, 1935, in Numa. He was raised in Numa alongside his sib- lings Wayne, Alice and Maxine. He gradu ited from Numa High School in 1953; Parson's College in Fairfield in 1957 and re- ceived his Master's Degree from the University of Iowa in 1965. Ken was united in mar- riage to Nancy Wahl June 9,,1963, in Parkersburg. To this union they had two sons, Scott and Eric, and together made their home in Oskatoosa. He worked as a school administrator in Oskaloosa for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. His hobbies included.wood- working and spending quality time with family. In 2003, Ken and Nancy moved to Norwalk to be near their son and grand- children. Tuesday evening, April 22, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 29 days, he passed away at UnityPoint Hospital in Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne; and sister, Maxine. Those left to cherish his memory-are his wife of over 50 years, Nancy of Norwalk; two sons, Scott Kenneth Laverne Arbogast (Dawn) of Trac CA and Eric (Ted) of Norwalk; two grandsons, Mitchell and Jackson, both of Norwalk; a sister, Alice Moye of Av- oca; and his mother-in- law, Maxine Wahl of Nor- walk. OBITUARY CHARLES JOHNSON -Services were held Tuesday, April 22, at Martensdale Community Church for Charles Johnson, 64, Prole, who died Tuesda)9 April 15, at his home. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Churchville.
