OFFICE INFORMATION
Pick up registration forms 24 hours a day at the Parks
and Recreation office or print them off our website:
www.ci.norwalk.ia.us. You can mail registration forms,
place them in our drop box or walk in. Our office is
located at 1100 Chatham Ave. (Public Safety Bldg.). Of-
fice hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
The drop box is open 24/7! If you have any questions,
call us at 981-9206. Online registration is available. (See
website: www.norwalk.iowa.gov).

Parks and Rec office, N/Warren Town & County News,
Norwalk Library, City Hall or City State Bank.
MISCELLANEOUS
• Think summer! Registrations for swim lessons be-
gin May 1.
• Restrooms are OPEN and the water turned on at all
the Norwalk Parks and Sports Complex. Park shelter
reservations are being taken for your events.
• Adventureland Discount Tickets are available at our of-
fice. Have fun at two parks for the price of one. Coming
in June 2014: The Storm Chaser. The park is now open
on weekends. Opens daily the week of May 18.
ADULT COMMUNITY EDUCATION
AT MAIN STREET SCHOOL
Once again, the Main Street School will offer various
Community Education programs. These programs will
include Rain Barrels, Glass Bead Making, We Be
Jammin', Home Brewing-Beer Making 101 and Epoxy
Resin as a Craft.
GLASS BEAD MAKING
Do you like to play with fire? Perhaps glass bead
making is the hobby you've been searching for. View a
demonstration from a professional glass bead artist and
try your hand at making a glass bead of your own. You
will also learn techniques for making jewelry using the
glass beads. Registration: Through May 2; Date: May
8; Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Cost: $20; Location: 925 Main
• St.; Limit:6 individuals.
NORWALK FAMILY TAE KWON DO
Maria'Boden is the head instructor of the school
which is under new ownership and offers programs ~r
ages 5 through adults. The classes are separated by rank
(beginners and advanced) and students meet twice a
week. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays at Oviatt
gym (6 p.m. start) or Multi-purpose room (7 p.m. start).
Times will vary depending on location due to school
activities.
We also offer our Little Dragon program designed
for children ages 5 to 7. Little Dragons meet twice a
week. This program is run concurrently with the begin-
ning class.
All programs consist of hand and foot techniques,
forms, self-defense and lessons and instructions on top-
ics such as respect, self-discipline and perseverance.
Competition is also available for those students who are
interested. Competition teaches sportsmanship, gives
confidenceand allows the students to use the skills they
have learned in class.
Families are strongly encouraged to join and• train
together. We found that the kids learn better when one
or both of their parents/guardians are learning along-
side of them in class.
Cost per Session: Norwalk residents, Little Dragons/
Twice a Week $46, non-residents $53; Family Tae kwon
do (ages 8 and above), 1st Family Member $57.50, 2nd
and 3rd Family Members $28.75 each, Maximum Fam-
ily Fee-S115, non-residents, 1st Family Member $66.25,
2nd and 3rci Family Members $33.25 each, Maximum
Family Fee $132.25.
**Cost of testing for belts and competition is extra
along with an annual $25 association fee**

PAINT ON CANVAS: CRAZY ANIMALS
Join us for a paint on canvas adventure with Lucinda.
Kids, ages K through 6th grade, will learn about basi~
cartoon drawing of animals and then transfer their cre-
ation on to canvas for a fun painting project. Canvas, art
supplies and aprons provided. Have your child wear
• short sleeves or clothes that can get messy. Multi-fam-

PEE WEE TEE BALL (KINDERGARTEN)
This program is for children who are currently in
Kindergarten. This is a coed program. The children will
have fun playing while learning the fundamentals of
tee ball. Volunteer coaches will be needed and there will
be two weeks of practice and four weeks of games (de-
pendent on number of teams). Registration Dates: May
5 through May 16; Nights: Tuesday and Thursday; Pro-
gram Begins: Week of June 30 (weather permitting);
Time: 6 and 7 p.m.; Location: Norwalk-McAninch
Sports Complex; Equipment needed: glove; Cost:
Norwalk residents $41/non-residents $47.25.
BAM BAM BLAST BALL (PRE-K)
This program is for children who are currently 4 and
5 years old NOT in Kindergarten. This is a coed league.
The children will have fun playing while learning the
fundamentals of tee ball. Bam Bam Blast Ball is a sim-
plified version of tee ball. The kids hit off a tee and run
to first base, which honks when they jump on it. Volun-
teer coaches will be needed and there will be one week
of practice and four or five weeks of games (dependent
on number of teams). Registration Dates: May 5
through May 16; Nights: Tuesday OR Thursday; Pro-
gram Begins: Week of June 30 (weather permitting);
Time: 6 and 7 p.m.; Location: Norwalk-McAninch
Sports Complex; Equipment needed: glove; Cost:
Norwalk residents $34.50/non-residents $39.75.
OPALS- SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAMS
(Older People with Active Life Styles)
SENIOR CITIZEN EXERCISE
Everyone age 55 and older is invited to attend a free
exercise program that will include stretching and ton-
ing. We will meet at the Norwalk Christian Church lo-
cated at 701 Main St. This is a continuous program run-
ning yearly. Days: Monday and Thursday; Time: 10-
10:30 a.m.
SENIOR CITIZEN WII BOWLING
Do you miss the game of bowling? Not quite as spry
as you used to be. We invite you to try the game of Wii
bowling. This game mimics actions performed in real
life bowling without having to travel to a bowling alley.
Each week teams will bd assigned for those who show
up and we will have a little competition. This program
continues through April. Place: Norwalk Public Safety
Building; Time: Thursdays, 1:30-3 p.m.
WELL-SEASONED POTLUCK
(The meat as well as the people)
All are invited, age 55 or older, to attend a potluck
dinner to enjoy and socialize with the Parks and Recre-
ation staff. Meat, tableware and coffee/beverage are pro-
vided. Dust off the cookbooks ahd be creative to bring a
side dish and/or dessert to share" with everyone. After-
the meal we will have some form of entertainment from
local talent. Let us know your email address and we
will send out reminders with what meat we plan to have
on that day. Call the office to register two days before
the event. Dates: May 2; Time: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; Place:
Norwalk Public Safety Building.
