Box 325, Norwalk, IA 50211 Member of: National Newspaper Iowa Newspaper Association Association OBITUARY RANDY GOOD Memorial services were held Wednesday, April 28, at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola for Randy Good, St. Charles. Memorials may be directed to the family for a tribute to be decided at a later date. Mr. Good had been employed as the Director of Main- tenance at Anawim Housing in Des Moines. Survivors include his wife, Susan of St. Charles; mother, Barbara Good of Des Moines; children, Joshua (Stephanie) Good, Jennifer and Jessica Good, all of St. Charles; brothers, John (Tami) Good of Norwalk and Craig (Kathy) Good of St. Peters, MO; sisters, Saundra Wheat of LeMar, AR and Jane (Virgil) Brant of Altoona; grandchildrel , Kolter and Keaton Good of St. Charles and many nieces and nephews. OBITUARY BENJAMIN BACKSTROM A celebration service was held Saturday, May 1, at Wakonda Christian Church in Des Moines for Benjamin "Ben" David Backstrom, A9, of Norwalk. Mr. Backstrom died Tuesday4 April 27. A life-long resident of Central Iowa, Ben grew up on the south side of Des Moines attendir g Jefferson and then Brody Middle School. The family moved to Norwalk where Ben graduated from Norwalk High School. He was a 5x Mock Trial mem- ber, Debater, Band Partici- pant, and a member of the Tennis Team. Ben was the recipient of the Norwalk Entrepreneur Scholarship and the Na- tional NFIB Young Entre- preneur Award. He was employed as a lifeguard at the YMCA and at Target. This summer he was to begin an internship in Des Moines. Ben was a sophomore at Drake in the College of Business with a focus on Entrepreneurial Studies. From a young age he had run many small compa- nies and his dream was to become a social-entrepre- neur, building a company that could change the world. Ben enjoyed sharing time with his good friends Benjamin Backstrom at Drake and Norwalk, be- ing with his family and leading his X-Box team as Striker218. He worked over 1000 hours of com- munity service by the age of 18 and was currently assisting at the Ronald McDonald House. He worked to connect with as many people as he could, building friendships and finding mentors along the way. Survivors include his parents, Shelli and Dave Backstrom; sister, Elise; grandparents, Donna and Reed Backstrom of Des Moines and Dan and Ruth Warren of Leon; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Memorial contributions may be sent to Wakonda Christian Church, 3938 Fleur Dr., Des Moines, IA 50321 for the benefit of homeless youth in Iowa. OBITUARY ORLETHA L. HOSHOR Services and burial were held Tuesday, April 27, in David City, NE for Orletha L. Hoshor, 81, David City, who died Thursday, April 22, at David Place in David Services were held in City. David City, NE, Vicki (Galen) Loomis of Grand Island, Survivors include NE and Cindy (Bryan) Benes, Norwalk; sisters, Anita daughters, Marianna Nickolite and Nancy Hopkins, both of'Columbus, NE; (Norman) Sheets of Prole eight grandchildren, Colby, Jeremy and Eric Hoshor, and RitaJeanBarkstrom of Zach Loomis, Ginger and Candi Lostroh and Bethany La Grange, IL; five grand- children, Ronda (Lonnie) and Levi Benes. She was preceded in death by her parents, her hus- Ruckman of Liberty, MO, band in 1997 and two brothers, Russell and Boyd Hopkins.
