PROCLAMATION
Emergency Medical Services
Week May 19 - 25, 2019
WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital
public service; and
WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical
services teams are ready to provide lifesaving care
to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
and
WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care
dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate
of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, the emergency medical services
system consists of emergency physicians, emergency
nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics,
firefighters, first responders, educators,
administrators and others; and
WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical
services teams, whether career or volunteer, engage
in thousands of hours of specialized training and
continuing education to enhance their lifesaving
skills; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value
and the accomplishments of emergency medical
services providers by designating Emergency Medical
Services Week; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that We, the
Norwalk City Council formally designates May 19-
25, 2019, as EMS Week in the City of Norwalk, and
publicly salute the service of emergency medical
services workers in our community and in
communities across the nation.

National Public Works Week
May 19 - 25, 2019
WHEREAS, public works services provided in our
community are an integral part of our citizens'
everyday lives; and
WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and
informed citizenry is vital to the efficient operation
of public works systems and programs such as water,
sewers, streets and highways, public buildings, solid
waste collection, parks and storm water
maintenance; and
WHEREAS, the health, safety, and comfort of this
community greatly depends on these facilities and
services; and
WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these
facilities, as well as their planning, design, and
construction, is vitally dependent upon the efforts
and skill of public works officials; and
WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and
dedicated personnel, who staff public works
departments, is materially influenced by the people's
attitude and understating of the importance of the
work they perform.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that We,
the Norwalk City Council formally designate May
19-25, 2019, as Public Works Week in the City of
Norwalk, and publicly salute the service of public
works employees in our community and in
communities across the nation.

Registration forms for events are available 24 hours
a day at the Parks and Recreation office (1100
Chatham Avenue, inside the Norwalk Public Safety
Building) or print them off our website:
www.norwalk.iowa.gov. You can mail registration
forms, place them in our drop box, or walk in. Office
hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
The drop box is open 24/7. If you have any questions,

We are now accepting Park Shelter House
reservations for April through October, and Pool
Party reservations for the 2019 season.
We are currently accepting applications for

Maintenance, Pool Concessions/Admissions,

Barn Barn Blast Ball
This program is for children who are currently 4 &
5 years old and not in kindergarten. This is a co-ed
league. Children will have fun playing while learning
the fundamentals of tee ball. Barn Barn is a simplified
version of tee ball - the kids hit off a tee and run to
first base, which honks when they jump on it. There
will be one week of practices and four or five weeks
of games, dependent on number of teams. Volunteer
coaches will be needed. Play on Tuesday or Thursday
nights. Begins the week of June 25th, weather
permitting.

This program is for children who are currently in
kindergarten. This is a co-ed league. Children will
