Thursday, May 16, 2019 N/Warren Town and County News Page Three PROCLAMATION Emergency Medical Services Week May 19 - 25, 2019 WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, first responders, educators, administrators and others; and WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week; now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that We, the Norwalk City Council formally designates May 19- 25, 2019, as EMS Week in the City of Norwalk, and publicly salute the service of emergency medical services workers in our community and in communities across the nation. Tom Phillips, Mayor PROCLAMATION National Public Works Week May 19 - 25, 2019 WHEREAS, public works services provided in our community are an integral part of our citizens' everyday lives; and WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is vital to the efficient operation of public works systems and programs such as water, sewers, streets and highways, public buildings, solid waste collection, parks and storm water maintenance; and WHEREAS, the health, safety, and comfort of this community greatly depends on these facilities and services; and WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning, design, and construction, is vitally dependent upon the efforts and skill of public works officials; and WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel, who staff public works departments, is materially influenced by the people's attitude and understating of the importance of the work they perform. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that We, the Norwalk City Council formally designate May 19-25, 2019, as Public Works Week in the City of Norwalk, and publicly salute the service of public works employees in our community and in communities across the nation. Begins the week of June 25th, weather permitting. Pee Wee Tee Ball This program is for children who are currently in kindergarten. This is a co-ed league.
