Bread of Stone
Another band performing during the Sunday, June
8, all-day Connection Music Festival held outdoors at
Crossroads Church, 2601 Border/Beardsley Street in
Norwalk is Bread of Stone.
Based in Sioux City, Bread of Stone is a band that
puts service and ministry before dreams-of stardom,
Brothers Ben and Bill Kristijanto are sons of a minister.
The development of Bread of Stone began with a call-
ing received by their father that the brothers should be
involved in a music ministry. The boys began taking
music lessons and gradually worked into performing
in local churches.
Today, the band has toured with major artists while
maintaining their profile as an indie band solely at God's
direction. ,Band members have matured in their music
and message and have released a new album, The Real
Life. The album incorporates rock, pop and praise and
is a most definitive musical snapshot of Bread of Stone
and their ministry.
Ben and Bill Kristijanto, along with Tim Barnes and
Wesley Holt, founded "The Light Project," their minis-
try in Indonesia. They travel to that country annually to
perform and fellowship with "scavenger" communities,
for whom scoring trash for recyclables that can be sold
for cash is a fact of daily existence. Taking their name
from a vision of their work as being "useless materials"
only made a blessing to others by Christ.
"We have never set out to make a statement of our-
selves as artists," says Co-founder and vocalist, Ben
Kristijanto. "We are able to do so only through God's
Grace - we're Bread of Stone."
The group will perform at 2 p.m. Sunda June 8, at
the all-day Connection Music Festival. Worship begins
at 11 a.m. followed by a day of music and fellowship.
The event is free to everyone. Food and merchandise
booths will be available throughout the day.
