Katherine Schmidt joined the meeting in progress at 5:06. The following motions were made, seconded, and approved: Approved going into closed session as provided under Iowa Code Chapter 21.5, Section (1), Subsection (j) for the Purposes of School Property Sale Dis- cussions. The Board returned to open session at 6:00 p.m. Approved the Consent Agenda. Approved an agreement with Orchard Place/Child Guidance Center to pro- vide School-Based Mental Health Services. Approved the actual move of the District Office from 906 S(~hool Avenue to 380 Wright Road soon after July 5t". Approved publication of advertisement to accept proposals for 906 School Avenue property sale. Approved the Electrical Engineer Agreement with Veenstra & Kimml Inc. to provide design and construction engineering services on the project to con- struct fiber optics cable between 380 Wright Road and Oviatt Elementary. Approved moving forward with the installation of the fiber optic cable once the installation contractor has been chosen. Approved the FY2013 Certified Budget Amendment as published. Approved supplying high school teachers with Chromebooks and the nec- essary professional development this upcoming school year (2013-2014), roll- ing out the 1:1 initiative for the 2014-2015 school year with Chromebooks for all 9t"-12th grade students, and keeping the option open to include 8t" grade student as well. Approved the changes to the Elementary, Middle School, Eastview, and High School student handbooks for 2013-2014. Approved the student teaching agreements with the College of saint Mary, University of Phoenix, and Northwest Missouri State University. Approved the FY2012 Financial Audit Report. Approved the 2013-2014 student fees as recommended. Approved going into closed session as provided under Iowa Code Chapter 21.5, Section (1), Subsection- (a), (i) for the Purposes of Superintendent Goal and Salary Review at 8:48 p.m. The Board returned to open session at 9:38 p.m. Approved the recommended 2013-2014 salary increases for administra- tors and supervisors to be equal to the teachers' salary package of 3.81%. Officer was called to Sunset Drive and Colonial Parkway for a Property Damage Accident. Vehicle driven by Mallorie Havick, 17, Norwalk, hit a vehicle driven by Sharon Sanchez, 42, Lacona. The driver of vehicle #1 was cited for Following Too Close. Ma,z_!Z Officer called to the 4300 block of Oakcreek Drive for a theft from a motor vehicle. Informa- tion was taken and a re- port was made. Investiga- tion continues pending further leads. ia=z. Called to the intersec- tion of Sunset Drive and Wright Road for a traffic accident. The driver of ve- hicle # 1, Christina KugeL 16, Des Moines, struck a vehicle driven by Valarie Short, 30, Indianola. Kugel was cited for Failure to have control of her vehicle. Report was made and sub- mitted to the Iowa Depart- ment of Transportation. Officer responded to Norwalk High School for a Theft report. A Norwalk juvenile male was charged with Theft in the 5th de- gree. The case is being for- warded to the Warren County Juvenile Court of- rice. May 21 Officer was called to the 8900 block of Oakwood Drive for a personal injury accident. Motorcycle driven by Mark Muerner, 43, Norwalk, hit a bump causing him to lose con- trol. Passenger sustained injuries and was trans- ported to Methodist Hos- pital. Muerner was cited for Failure to Have Control and Failure to Prove Secu- rity Against Liability. The baby carriage was invented in 1848 by a New Yorl(er named Charles Burton. His earliest model was a large box with four wheels and a handle attached to it. It wasn't a hit in America, however, and Burton moved to Britain. Queen Victoria took a liking to his invention and other moms soon fol- lowed suit.
