Photo submitted. Norwalk Girls District Track Results The Lady Warriors competed in the district track meet May 14. The team was prepared to show their best as they competed on their home track. They placed third overall behind a strong Dallas Center Grimes team and ADM team. In route to the third place finish, the Lady Warriors qualified 10 events for state. Those events were held May 21, 22, and 23. The team competed well by improving on many of their state qualifying times and places. The highest finisher of the weekend was Talia Zook placing 8th in the Discus. The Warriors battled a relentless rain for the first 10 holes and were not able to overcome the adverse weather. Jerma Migliero led the Warriors with a 94. Ahigh point to the day was on the last hole of her senior career; Jenna holed out from 80 yards away for a birdie to finish the nine with a 40. Rachel Weber finished with a 108, Rachel Frescoln shot 114 and Emily Kawano ended the day with a 116. The five seniors graduate with a combined record of 149-100 going 47-22 this year and three second place finishes in Little Hawkeye Conference Dual seasons. The Warriors hope to continue to build on next year with Frescoln returning and a promising JV including Gabi Hager, Camri Vivone, Rachel Elliott, Lizzy Putbrese, Abbie Wermerskirchen and Anna Lingor. Anya Kallenbach, Will Chase, 4th grade Lexi Popkins, 5th grade 3rd grade Frida3 May 22, the Lakewood Elementary library hosted a party for the school's Star Readers. To become a star reader students had to read 30 or more books. They celebrated by eating donuts and watching movies. Each student was given a certifi- cate and the top reader in each grade was recognized. They are Anya Kallenbach in 3rd grade reading over 130 books, Will Chase in 4th grade reading over 70 books, and Lexi Popken in 5th grade reading over 40 books. Star Readers 5th grade.
