It's A Star Spangled Day
By Pat Wahl
Seems like we missed spring and went right into
monsoons and hot summer weather. Now we are
almost at the halfway point of summer. Where has
the time gone? Just three weeks from today will be
July 4th! I hope by then the weather will be great
and we will have a beautiful star spangled day!!
As you are making your plans for the next few
weeks, be sure to include Norwalk's July 4th
Celebration. We have a great day planned just for
you and your family. This year's theme is It's A Star
Spangled Day - get out your red, white, and blue
and stand proud.
Grab your lawn chairs and pick out your favorite
spot to watch the parade, biggest in the Metro area.
Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. on Cherry. Route is the
same as last year. If you want to participate in the
parade, you can register at the High School parking
lot on the morning of the 4th. NO pre-registrations.
Let's see lots of floats this year.
Immediately following the parade, booths will open
in City Park on North Avenue. There will be many
different types of vendors. Already have several spots
reserved. We will have food booths, games booth, and
many other types, many local vendors. Come check
them out. Let me know if you are wanting to do a
booth, pre-registration is required for the park.
Don't forget the Bingo games put on by the Lions
Club. It will be located in the community room at the
Library. Make sure you purchase raffle tickets during
the day. Prizes are donated by local vendors and
proceeds go to help purchase the fireworks display.
To top the day off, there will be the largest
Fireworks display around at McAninch Sports
Complex at dusk. Parking is available at different
spots which will be announced in a later issue.
Anyone wishing to get parade or vendor forms they
will be available at the Norwalk Chamber office, City
Hall, North Warren News, also on the City Of
Norwalk website which is www.norwalk.iowa.gov, or
by contacting Pat Wahl or e-mail wahl4m@aol.com.
Hope to see everyone on the 4th.
