Photos submitted. The Norwalk Student any Foundation Board Education Foundation member or at Scott's Foods was honored to,l~vovide -and Fareway. Tickets will monetary scholarships to also be sold at the door on Hannah Simmerman and Lauren Bunce at Honors Night Thursda~ May 26. The Dedication Award was presented to Simmerman for her dedi- cation to her coursework and her positive attitude. Bunce was honored the Principal's Award by Dale Barnhill. The Principal's Award does not usually come with a monetary gift, but the Foundation through gifts from the community was able to give her a check with her award. The Foundation was formed in September 2010 by community volunteers. The Foundation's goal is to be able to provide addi- tional support to the stu- dents and teachers through grants and schol- arships. The first grant to a teacher was given in May to Carolvn Klein. The next grant wilt be awarded in October 2012. The Foundation will be hosting a fundraiser Thursday, June 23, at the Wright Place. "Taste for Education" will be offer- ing wine and beer sam- piing, as well as compie- mentary cheese, choco- lates and fruit. A pianist and vocalist will be per- forming. The event will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and tickets are $20. Tickets can be pur- chased in advance from the evening of the event. Proceeds from this event will support the "Clicker Campaign"- the drive to purchase Integrated Stu- dent Response Systems for the classrooms. A clicker demonstration will be available. Come support _Norwalk students and teachers and celebrate the end of the school year with the Student Foundation. Sunscreen pro- tects skin from harmful UV rays, prevents sunburn and more importantly, skin cancer. In order to educate people in the community, Medicap Pharmacy is giv- ing out a free bottle of SPF 30 sunscreen along with tips about sunscreen safety during the month of June. The amount of people who are diagnosed with skin cancer is increasing. By knowing these facts and adopting them into daily patterns, it could start to decrease current skin can- cer statistics.
