Box 160 Norwalk, Iowa www.kwlo/.com ] OBITUARY ROY EDGAR GENTRY Roy Edgar Gentry was born November 18, 1942, in Muscatine, to George HoUis Gentry and Areda Leone Hamlin. He passed away Monday, June 8, at ManorCare in West Des Moines after a long illness. He graduated from Roosevelt High school in Des Moines with the dass of 1961. He served in the U.S. Army 1962-1968 with Com- pany A 577th Engineer Bat- talion. A Memorial Gathering for famfl3 friends and co- workers will be held Sunda June 21, from 2-4 p.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Social Hall in Norwalk. Roy held sales positions with Sony and Westing- house before he attended the Apprentice Program for Union Painters in Des Moines and found his true calling. He started his Paint- ing career with Jarnagin Painting and Sandblasting in Des Moines. As a proud member of the Painters Union, Local 246 ('78-'89) in Des Moines and later Local 447 ('89'15) in Cedar Rap- ids, Roy plied his trade all over the state from The Des Moines Art Center and downtown Skywalk system to the Duane Arnold Nuclear Power Plant in Palo and Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City. For the last sev- eral years Roy happily worked for the Hy-Vee dis- tribution Center in Chariton. Roy loved the outdoors and upon retiring he trav- eled Iowa with a 5th-wheel trailer in tow, camping State Roy Edgar Gentry Parks. Many ILmes he would even trade painting services for free camping at his most frequented spots. Roy was married and di- vorced three times (Carol Foreman, Sharon Sparks, and Linda Woito) and re- mained very close to his third wife, Lindab and her three children and their grandchildren. He spent many holidays and special occasions with their family and loved them all very much. He is survived by two sons, Troy (Julie "Holly") Gentry and Todd (Cheryl) Gentry and grandson Wyatt Gent13z, all of Des Moines. Also, a sister, Elizabeth Mineart of Norwalk; an aunt, Barbara Fors (Don) of West Des Moines and nu- merous adoring nieces, nephews and cousins. OBITUARY GLENN EARL ESTELL Services were held were held Sunday, June 7, at Indianola First United Methodist Church for Glenn Earl Estell, 85, Norwalk, who died at his home Wednesda} June 3. Burial was in the St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles. Mr. Estell was born in Adair County on Easter Sunda)6 March 31, 1929, to Orville Glenn and Emma Ruth Estell. He graduated from Arispe High School in 1947 and later served his country in the Korean War. After returning, he began working for Frank Paxton Lumber in 1952 until he retired in 1991. December 6, 1952, he married Catherine Jean Smart. They lived in Des Moines before moving their family to the farm south of Cumming, where the family still re- sides. They began raising Angus cattle in 1966. He was a member of the American Legion in Cummingy Home Builders Association, American An- gus Association and War- ren County Angus Associa- tion. He was a 54-year Glenn Earl Estell member of the Auburn- Union Park Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Cathy; five children, Rick (Holly) Estell, Dennis Estell, Diana (Dale) Smith, Peggy (Thad) Bloom and Marsha (Frank) Coffman; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchil- dren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Emma Estell; sister, Peggy Estell.
