Pick up registration forms 24 hours a day at the Parks
and Recreation office or print them off our website:
www.norwalk.iowa.gov. You can mail registration
forms, place them in our drop box or walk in. Our of-
fice is located at 1100 Chatham Ave. (Public Safety Bldg.).
Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Fri-
day. The drop box is open 24/7! If you have any ques-
tions, call us at 981-9206. Online registration is avail-

RECYCLED ART IN THE PARK
Do you miss seeing your friends during the summer?
Stop and enjoy their company at the park while making
special projects. Kids meet on Wednesdays and create a
different project each time. This program is for students
ages 5 to 12. Registration: Through June 19; Time: 10:30
to 11:45 a.m.; Dates: June 11 - Recycled Cardboard Ani-
mals - Use cardboard pieces to create the face of a cat,
bear or other animal. June 18 - Mixed Media Recycled
Collage Flower - Use various art materials to experi-
ment on recycled cardboard then cut out shapes and
assemble a beautiful flower, sun or other art collage
ideas. June 25 - Rock People - Take rocks to another cre-
ative level and paint them to make people. Make a whole
family then mix them up for more fun ideas. July 2, Clay
Can Sculpture - Using a tin can as a base create a 3-D
sculpture that can be used as a pencil holder. July 9,
Recycled Rain Sticks - Paper tubes, aluminum foil, paint
and more come together to create a fun sounding rain
stick. Location: City Park; Cost: Pottery $12 Norwalk
resident/S13.80 non-resident per class; Minimum/Maxi-

FALL YOUTH SOCCER 2015
This program is for children entering first through
seventh grades. Soccer is a great aerobic sport, and many
children enjoy playing the game because of the constant
motion. Shin guards are required to participate in this
sport. Parks and Rec provides a team shirt. This is a six-
week program including one game and one practice
each week. Volunteer coaches will be needed. Divisions:
1st and 2nd Grade Boys: 4 vs. 4 - Play on Tuesday and
Friday; 1st and 2nd Grade Girls: 4 vs. 4 - Play on Mon-
day and Thursday; 3rd and 4th Grade Coed: 8 vs. 8 -
Play on Monday and Thursday; 5th- 7th Grade Coed: 8
vs. 8 - Play on Tuesday and Friday (Game nights are
tentative). Registration Dates: Through June 26; Pro-
gram Begins: Week of August 17 (tentatively); Time: 6

JUST FOR KICKS
This program is for children 4 or 5 years old that are
NOT starting Kindergarten yet. This is a coed league.
The children will have fun while learning the funda-
mentals of soccer. The skills of dribbling, passing, and
shooting will be introduced. Volunteer coaches will be
needed. There will be one week of practice and five
weeks of practice/games. Registration Dates: Through
June 26; Days: Mondays or (Wednesdays if needed de-
pendant on numbers); Program Begins: Week of Au-
gust 17 (tentatively); Time: 6 p.m.; Location: Norwalk-
McAninch Sports Complex; Equipment Needed: Shin

PEEWEE FLAG FOOTBALL
This fundamental program is for children entering
1st and 2nd grade this coming school year. Children will
learn offensive and defensive fundamentals of football.

program; players will have practices/games twice per
week. The number of participants will determine the
exact nights, due to limited field space. Volunteer
coaches will be needed. Registration Dates: Through
June 26; Program Begins: Week of August 17 (Tenta-
tively); Days: Mondays and Thursdays (Tuesday and
Friday will be used also if needed dependant on num-
bers); Time: 6 p.m.; Location: Norwalk-McAninch

3RD - 5TH FLAG FOOTBALL
Flag football is for children entering 3rd through 5th
grades this coming school year. Children will be placed
on teams and will play each other. Children will leam

NORWALK JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY
The Norwalk Police Department is again conducting
the Junior Police Academy for the City of Norwalk. The
program is a partnership between the Parks and Recre-
ation Department and the Norwalk Police, and is an op-
portunity for the police officers to build a positive bridge
with the youth of the community. Cadets will take part
in fingerprinting, investigating a crime scene, taking
photos, casting footprints, and running an obstacle
course. Each student will receive a tee shirt at the end
of the week. Registration Dates: Through June 27; Pro-
gram Dates: July 7 - July 10 (students who completed
grades 3rd - 6th); Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Location:
Norwalk Public Safety Building; Cost: $23.00 Norwalk

NORWALK JUNIOR FIRE SCHOOL
Learn basic firefighter skills to include use of fire
hoses, ladders, hand tools, fire investigation, and breath-
ing apparatus training. Basic first aid and ambulance
equipment will also be demonstrated. Fire department
staff will be coordinating this fun program. Registra-
tion Dates: Through June 26; Program Dates: July 27 -
July 30 (students who completed 3rd - 6th grades); Time:
10 a.m. to 12 p.m,; Location: Norwalk Public Safety

Everyone age 55 and older is invited to attend a free
exercise program that will include stretching and ton-
