Salem Hildebrandt,
Simpson College fresh-
man, lettered in Cross
Country during the fall
2014 season and in Track
and Field during the
spring 2015 season.
Simpson College is in the
Iowa Intercollegiate Ath-
letic Conference. Salem is
studying Actuarial Science
and made the Dean's List
for the both fall 2014 and
spring 2015 semesters. Sa-
lem is the son of Scott and
Connie Hildebrandt of
Norwalk.
Central College in Pella
placed 20 student-athletes
on the spring sports Iowa
Conference all-academic
team Tuesday, June 9. In-
cluded was Cassidy
Gornick, so., women's
track and field, Norwalk
actuarial science, informa-
tion systems, 3.623.
For the year Dutch stu-
dent-athletes received aca-
demic all-conference rec-
ognition 64 times. Seven
were honored for winter
sports and 37 for fall
sports.
Students were pre-
sented with scholastic and
leadership achievement
awards during St.
Ambrose's Students
Awards Night in May in
Davenport.
Olivia Bratt, daughter
of Laura Bratt, Norwalk,
was inducted into the
Triota Honor Society,
which focuses on human
rights and the equality of
all persons. Bratt recently
completed her junior year
at St. Ambrose, where she
is majoringin psycholog
sociology and women and
gender studies.
Arielle Floyd of
Norwalk was among over
1,300 students honored on
the Lewis University
Dean's List for spring se-
mester 2015 in Romeoville,
IL.
Floyd was studying
Chemistry at Lewis Uni-
versity. To be eligible for
this honor, students must
have completed a mini-
mum of 12 semester hours

Over the course of
spring semester, Iowa
State University students
in the College of Agricul-
ture and Life Sciences in
Ames took their learning
outside the classroom and
into a totally hands-on en-
vironment. The students
traveled to places like Ar-
gentina, Brazil and Costa
Rica over Spring Break
and to St. John for the se-
mester, to learn more
about chosen areas of
study.
Katie Jacobson of Saint
Charles, majoring in Envi-
ronmental Science, trav-
eled to Costa Rica for a
spring break program in
which they observed tropi-
cal soils, tropical crops and
the impact they have on
the environment.
The Agriculture Study
Abroad Office in the Col-
lege of Agriculture and
Life Sciences offers high

portunities to students on
all seven continents in a
variety of programs open
to all students in the col-

The Iowa Foundation
has announced the recipi-
ents of 72 Iowa H college
scholarships valued at
over $70,000. Recipients
were on hand to accept
their awards Sunday, June
7, at the Annual Scholar-
ship Reception held on the
campus of Iowa State Uni-
versity in Ames.
Garrett Onstot, Warren
County, received $1,000-
Great Western Bank 4-H
Scholarship. His parents
are Donald and Brenda
Onstot.
Garrett is a member of
Warren County 4-H where
he has held a variety of
leadership positions. He
has also been elected to
numerous leadership po-
sitions within his high
school including Student
council, class president
and National Honor Soci-
ety. Majoring in animal sd-
ence, Garrett will attend
Iowa State University with
the goal of becoming a Vet-
erinary Pathologist. He
hopes this career path will
help him "fix the unfixable
and cure the incurable."

in Fayette has released its
2014-15 Dean's List. To be
honored, the undergradu-
ate must have earned a
minimum 3.50 GPA for the
semester and be enrolled
as a full-time student.
