8th Grade Students Travel to Washington D.C.
Fifty-four eighth grade students recently visited Washington D.C. for three days. Students were given the
opportunity to visit numerous memorials such as the Washington Monument, Vietnam Memorial, WWII Memo-
rial, the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, and the Korean Memorial. Other sites included the Holocaust museum,
several Smithsonian Museums, Arlington Cemetery and Ford's Theater. Chaperones for the trip included Teresa
Davidson, Lynda Downs and Jake Nimrod.

Triathlon Clinic
Join us for a one-day clinic and event that will intro-
duce your young athlete to the fast-paced sport of
triathlon!
The clinic is Sunda) July 26, from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
at the Norwalk Aquatic Center, 1112 E. 18th St. It is for
lst-6th graders. Registration is July 14-25. The cost is
$35 Norwalk residents and $40.25 non-residents.

online at www.norwalk.iowa.gov.
Members of the Norwalk Racers, the local triathlon
and running club, will educate youth on safety tips, in-
formation about swimming, biking, running and tips
for fast transitions. We will close with a very non-com-
petitive, fun event allowing participants to utilize some
of the skills they learned.
All participants MUST HAVE a bike, age-appropri-
ate helmet, swim goggles and suit, and running shoes
with them on the day of the event. A parent or adult's
participation is also required, so plan to spend the morn-
ing with your child.
All participants will be entered into a random draw-
ing for two $500 gift cards to Rasmussen Bike Shop and
kid's hats. All kids participating will also receive a t-
shirt, swim cap and water bottle.
