OBITUARY
BETTE JO COX
Bette Jo Cox, 63, Des Moines, died Friday; June 6, at
UnityPoint Hospital in Des Moines. The family held a
private memorial Mass with inurnment at the Iowa
Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

ROBERT "BOB" MINELLA
A Celebration of Life
Service was held Monday,
Jffne 23, at Fellowship
Community Church for
Robert "Bob" Minella, 65,
Norwalk, who died Tues-
da3¢ June 17, surrounded
by his famil following a
long battle with cancer.
Pastor Rob Jones officiated
the service.
Burial was at Iowa Vet-
erans Cemetery with full
military honors accorded
by the United States_Navy
and the Cumming Ameri- "
can Legion Post 562.
.Mr. Minella was born
December 10, 1948 and
grew up in Pleasantville.
He graduated from Plea-
santville High School in
1967 and proudly served
his country in the United
States Navy and the Iowa
Air National Guard.
December 24, 1971 he
was united in marriage to
Betty Crawford. They
made their home in
Norwalk and were blessed
with three children. Mr.
Minella sold cars at
Ramsey Motors and
Granger Motors for many
years, retiring in 2013. The
couple are long-time
members of Fellowship
Community Church. He
enjoyed spending time
with his family, fishing,

boating and kayaking.
Survivors include his
loving wife, Betty; three
children, Jason (Cheri) of
St. Marys, Gracia (Scott)
Anderson of Sun City, AZ
and Allison (John) Jacob-
son of West Des Moines;
his mother, Maxine Lukes
of Des" Moines; and nine
grandchildren, Jessica,
Tyson, Brianne,, Betsy,
Skylar, Hallie, Levi, Lillian
and Lidia.
He was preceded in
death by his devoted
grandparents, Tanner and
Viola Minella, and step-fa-
ther, Leo Lukes.

OBITUARY
BETTY E. MONAGHAN
A funeral mass was held Monda June 16, at Our
Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny
for Betty Monaghan, 68, Anken who died Tuesda June
10, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Burial was at St.
Patrick's Irish Settlement Cemetery near Cumming.
Ms. Monaghan was born in Des Moines June 10,1946.
She graduated from Ankeny High School and then
Mercy School of Nursing in 1967, She spent -her entire
working career with Mercy Medical Center before re-
tiring in 2009.
Survivors include her siblings, William (Margie)
Monaghan, Thelma (Frank) Morris, James (Linda)
Monaghan and Peggy (Mark) Herrington and numer-
ous nieces and nephews.

SHIRLEY ANN BLACK
Services were held Wednesda June 18, in Creston
for Shirley Ann Black, 89;of Ankeny and formerly of
Creston, ¢¢ho died Saturda]6 June 14, at Mercy Hospice
in Johnston following a brief illness.
Survivors include a son, Mike (Jean) Black and daugh-
ter, Cheryl (Bob) Goree, all of Ankeny; a sister, Mfiry
Jane Kralik, Norwalk; six grandchildren, Angela (Todd)
Wilson, Bondurant, Stephanie (John) Siddens-Rudisill,
Mt. Vernon, OH, Sara (John) Monroe, Des Moines, Jeff
(Amy) Black, Lisa McKenzie, Greg (Katie) Black, all of
Anken and 11 great-grandchildren.
