July Nature Tots Program
On Saturday, July 6th, from 10:30 am. to 11:30
a.m., children ages 3-5 are invited to bring their
favorite adult to the Neal Smith Wildlife Refuge and
join a refuge naturalist to‘read stories, explore
outside, make nature crafts, and more! The program
is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is
requested.
The topic for Saturday’s lesson will be “Busy Bees
and Butterflies”. Nature Tots programs are
educational programs that are especially designed
for young learners. Lessons» focus on engaging
children’s senses using hands—on and interactive
activities. ,

~News From Our College Students~
Area students are among those named to the Spring
2019 semester Dean’s List at the University of
Northern Iowa. To be included on the list, a student
must have earned a grade point of 3.5 or higher on a
4.0 scale, while taking at least 12 hours of graded
work during the semester. On the 4.0 system, an A
is worth four points; a B, three points; a C, two points,
and a D, one point. Jennifer Forey, Trinity
Hopkey, and Katie Vryhof, all of Cumming; Fidei
Beattie, Ashley Campbell, Hope Hatchitt, Alexis
Hutchins, Gabrielle Mauro, Sonny Onken,

with a master of science in education in professional
school counseling from Buena Vista University.

The following local student earned Dean’s List
recognition for the spring semester at Buena Vista
University: Noah Schmitt, of Norwalk. Students
named to the BVU Dean’s List must have a minimum
grade point average of 3.5 for the spring semester,
based on a 4.0 grade point system, and must have
taken at least 12 hours of coursework.

The Iowa State University College of Agriculture
and Life Sciences Dean’s List honors students who
have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Local students on this list include Paul Appleget,
Marit Hovey, and Matthew Poppe, all of Norwalk.

Katrina Devore of Norwalk recently received a
Bachelor of Science in Software Development from
Bellevue University. Devore joins the ranks of more
than 57,000 Bellevue University alumni who are
succeeding around the globe.
Morningside College, Sioux City, recently conferred
134 Master of Arts in Teaching degrees and 21 Master
of Science in Nursing degrees during its graduate
commencement. Johnna Samson, Norwalk,
received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.

The Office of the Registrar at the University of
Minnesota Crookston recently announced its list of
spring 2019 graduates. Students completed their
degree requirements during spring session 2019.
Spring session graduates include: Jarrod Buhr,
Norwalk, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in
Finance.

The Office of the Registrar and the Graduate School
at Northwest Missouri "State University have
released the names of students who completed
requirements for degrees at the conclusion of the 2019
spring trimester. Tristan Patrick McCartney, of
Cumming, received a BS. degree in Finance:
Corporate Finance; Maria Boden, of Norwalk,
received a B.S.Ed. degree in Elementary Education
and Special EduczCross Categorical; and Brianne
Renee Connor, of Prole, received a BS. degree in
Business Management and Marketing.

Academic or President’s honor rolls at the end of the
2019 spring semester. To be included on the Academic
Honor Roll a student must carry a minimum of 12
credit hours and attain a grade-point average of 3.50

President’s Honor Roll have attained a perfect 4.00
GPA for the semester. Norwalk students include

Dean’s List for the spring 2019 semester. These
students have achieved a 3.3 grade point average or
higher after completing 12 or more. credit hours at
the college. Kirkwood students from the area earning
