AMERICAN RED CROSS LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAMS Initial Registration Date for Learn to Swim Pro- grams: We will no longer offer a Saturday morning stand-in-line registration date. Swimming registration began Monday, May 9. Please register online, walk-in, or by drop box, just like our other programs. If classes do not meet the minimum of four students, we will move them to another class with notification. See our website for all class descriptions. To check your child's current level completed, see our Aquatic webpage. New this year, there will be a $5 charge per class to switch classes after the initial registration. See our Spring/Summer brochure or online for the dates and classes available. JUNIOR GOLF CLUB RENTAL *Looking for Junior Golf Clubs, but don't.have/want to buy them??? Norwalk Parks and Recreation has avail- able ten (10) sets of junior golf clubs available for rent FREE OF CHARGE. The Junior Golf Club Rental Pro- gram is made possible through a successful grant from the "Sticks for Kids" golf program through the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and the Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA). JUST FOR KICKS This program is for children 4 or 5 years old that have NOT started Kindergarten yet. This is a coed league. The children will have fun while learning the funda- mentals of soccer. The skills of dribbling, passing and shooting will be introduced. Volunteer coaches will be needed. There will be one week of practice and five weeks of games. Registration Dates: Through July 8; Days: Mondays or Wednesdays (you choose first choice); Program Begins: August 22 (tentatively); Time: 6 p.m.; Location: Norwalk-McAninch Sports Complex; Equipment Needed: Shin guards; Cost: $25 resident/ $28.75 non-resident. PEE WEE FLAG FOOTBALL This fundamental program is for children entering 1st and 2nd grade this coming school year. Children will learn offensive and defensive fundamentals of foot- ball. Parks and Rec provides a team shirt. This is a six- week program; players will have practices/games twice per week. The exact nights will be determined by the number of participants due to limited field space. Vol- unteer coaches will be needed. Registration Dates: Through July 8; Program Dates: August 22 to Septem- ber 30 (tentatively); Days: Monday, Tuesday and Thurs- day, Friday (2 nights per week); Time: 6 p.m.; Location: Norwalk-McAninch Sports Complex; Equipment Needed: Mouthpiece; Cost: $30 resident/S34.50 non- resident. THIRD-FIFTH GRADE FLAG FOOTBALL Flag football is for children entering 3rd through 5th grades this coming school year. Children will be placed on teams and will play each other. Volunteer coaches for teams will be accepted. Never played before? No problem. To start the league, the league director will give pointers on how to play the game, how to throw different shots and help with etiquette needed to play the game. OUTDOOR MOVIES IN THE PARKS Norwalk Parks and Rec plan to offer FREE family movie opportunities within the parks and at the aquatic center! At the time of publication, the details were still being put together. If you are interested in sponsoring a movie night, or would like to help volunteer for these events, call the office at 981-9206. Here is what is planned so far (at time of publication): Bring your own lawn chair or blanket and get out- doors to watch a movie! Join us for a fun, relaxing evening under the stars! Concessions will be available, as well as the movie favorite, popcorn! Movies are TBA when the date gets closer.
