Dear News Enthusiasts, Each year the Warren County Historical Society cel- ebrates the history of our county during Log Cabin Days Festival (september 28 and 29). This year will be the 41st anniversary of the festival. In the past, we have honored Warren County communities beginning with Ackworth and ending (last year) with the community of Summerset. As Summerset was the last on the alpha- betical list, this year the theme is Warren County Rural Schools. Beginning in 2011, we invited members to send im- ages and/or information about their rural school. Over 100 images have been received. The unique idea that came as a result of this was to have a photo quilt created using these images. The quilt is nearly completed and will be raffled during this year's festival. Mrs. Carol Mahr of the Warren County Piece Makers headed up the sewing group. Photos of the process can be viewed via our website: warrencountyhistory.org along with many of the images that are in the quilt. Former president of the Society, Mr. Jerry Beatty, has taken on the task of compiling information about the schools which will be available to purchase during the festival. Because of the overwhelming interest and unique- ness of the project, we thought it newsworthy and would be grateful to your news organization to help us spread the word. We are also seeking appropriate Warren County venues to display the quilt which is 96" wide and 105" long.
