Box 325, Norwalk, IA 50211 Member of: National Newspaper Iowa Newspaper Association Association OBITUARY DEBRA GAY Memorial services were held Frida July 12, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Urbandale for Debra Gay, 57, Norwalk, who died Monda July 8, at Mercy Medi- cal Center in Des Moines. Per her wishes her cremated remains will be incorporated into fireworks and launched at a later date. "Deb was always an original." She was born in Ottumwa January 14, 1956, gradu- ated from Ottumwa High School and received a B.S. in Accounting from Drake University. After 25 years of service at Wells Fargo, she became the director of finance for Lutheran Services in Iowa. She was an avid cyclist and completed RAGBRAI seven consecutive years. She also enjoyed reading, gar- dening, nature, quilting and was an accomplished mu- sician, playing both violin and piano. Survivors include her daughters, Daphne (Brent) Monson of Des Moines and Phaedra (Chris) Strohrnaier of Waukee; granddaughter, Charlotte Mnson; long- time companion, Boyd Bader of Des Moines; father, Howard Cudworth of Ottumwa; and brothers, Dan (Renee) Cudworth of Marion and Dave (Cheryl) Cfidworth of Anamosa. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Cudworth. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Min- istries in Des Moines. Minson, 95, who died Saturda3 July 6, at Re- gency Care Center in Norwalk. Survivors include her husband, Robert; one son, Charles (Dawn); a daughter, Barbara (Don) Waterman and grandchildren to the fifth generation. OBITUARY MARY JANETTE MILLER A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, July 11, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Des Moines for Mary Janette Miller, 89, Des Moines, who died Sun- day, July 7. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Churchville. Mrs. Miller was bom September 10, 1923 to Harry and Iva Hill in Churhville. She moved to Des Moines in 1951. Mar called Janette by family and friends, raised 11 children on Des Moines" southside. She lovingly referred to being a mother, grandmoth- er and great-grandmother as her greatest gift and was humbled that God would entrust her with his most pre- cious possessions. She ran the payroll department for Younker's department store for 25 plus years. Survivors include three siblings, Honor a Tovrea, Bob (Lola) Hill and Phyllis (Donald.) MCKINNEY Services were held in East Grand Forks, MN, Thursday, June 20, for Th- Omas Michael McKinney, 50, of Hatton, ND, who died Thursda3 June 13, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Interment of the cremains will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at St. John's Cemetery in Cumming. The Cumming American Legion will present a memorial ser- vice. Mr. McKinney was born July 25, 1962 in Hampton, the son of Lewis and Nina (Johnson) McKinney. He grew up in Cumming and attended school at Nor- walk High School, gradu- ating with the Class of 1981. In 1981, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Guam, Honduras and sev- eral other Air Force Bases in the United States in- cluding Grand Forks Air Force Base, where he re- tired in 2008 after serving 26 years. Following his re- tirement, he worked for True North Equipment in Northwood, ND and also had a civilian job at the Grand Forks Air Force Base. August 16, 2008 he was united in marriage to An- nemarie Torrance in Grand Forks. Mr. McKinney en- Thomas M. McKinney joyed hunting, camping and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Annemarie of Hat- ton, ND; his mother, Nina McKinney of Cumming; three step-children, Rich- ard (Alicia) Reardon of Minneapolis, MN, Barb Reardon of Manvel, ND and Aaron (Miranda) Th- omas of Grand Forks, ND; two grandchildren, Mi- kayla Reardon and Carter Thomas; three sisters, Joan (Mark) Stone of Lawrence, KS, Michelle Poltey of Marion and Karen McKin- ney of Cumming; uncle, KC McKinney and numer- ous nieces and.nephews. He was preceded in deathby his father, Lewis, and one brother, Neil McKinney. Memorials may be di- rected to the Cumming American Legion. OBITUARY NEVA MARIE SIRDOREUS Neva Marie Sirdoreus, 85, Norwalk, died Mon- day, July 8, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 13, in Win- terset with Pastor Joel An- drus officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery. Mrs. Sirdoreus was born April 23, 1928 in Nodaway to James and Lela (Harrison) Herrick. She was married August 27, 1948 in Earlham to Roscoe "Rocky" Sir- doreus. She had spent most of her life living in Norwalk having been a sales clerk at the former Younkers Department Store in Des Moines, then doing janitorial work and helping in the kitchen at Norwalk High School. She also found time to be a homemaker. She had been a member of the Martens- dale Community Church in Martensdale. Survivors include her daughters, Cathy (Bill) Watkins of Norwalk, Son- dra Battin of Norwalk and Betty Faith of Des Moines; brothers, Charles Herrick of Winterset, Paul Herrick of Perry, David Herrick of St. George, UT and Dean Herrick of Farmington; sister, Charlotte Drake of Creston; grandchildren, Jonathan Armstrong, Brad Armstrong, Randy Battin, Matt Battin, Becky Ken- Neva Marie Sirdoreus nard, Nicole Pasutti and Nathan Pasutti; great- grandchildren, Jeremy Armstrong, Kimberly Armstrong, Katelyn Arm- strong, Blake Armstrong, Hattie Armstrong, Bran- don Battin, Dallas Ken- nard, Troy Kennard, Alexa Kennard, Summer Pasutti, Dominick Pasutti and Tay- lor Miller; and great-great- grandchildren, Zoey Arm- strong and Vincent Wat- kins. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lela (Harrison) Herrick; and husband, Rocky Sirdoreus. Memorials may be di- rected to her family for a future designation.
