OBITUARY
PHIL NORTON
Memorial services were held in West Des Moines
Saturda Aug. 2, for Philip Eugene Norton, 85, who
died Sunday, July 27, at his home in West Des Moines.
Private family burial of his cremated remains were held
at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Mr. Norton was born June 14, 1929 near Haven, KS,
one of six children of Virgil C. and Florence C. (Ralph)
Norton. He attended country school and graduated
from Arlington High School, Arlington, KS in 1947. He
married Harriett Irene Milboum in Bums, KS Decem-
ber 17, 1950. Together they raised four children, Gary
A. (Barbara) of Norwalk, Steven R. (Joyce) of Ankeny,
Donald E. of West Des Moines and David L. (Janet) of
Des Moines.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, sta-
tioned at Ft. Holabird in Baltimore, MD. In 1958, he
moved the family to Iowa where he-worked in sales
for Sinclair Oil Company. for many years. He later
worked for Riley Paint Company in Burlington for sev-
eral years and FS/Growmark for 16 years in West Des
Moines, where he retired in 1994. There were many
moves over the years, but in 1972 they returned to West
Des Moines.
Mr. Norton enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and
playing golf. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa
State fan.
Survivors include his wife, four sons, eight grand-
children and five great-grandchildren.

United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or the
West Des Moines Senior Center.

Lisa Rae England was
born July 7, 1966 in Mount
Pleasant, Iowa, and was the
sixth child born to Edwin
and Jean Lejchty. Lisa
knocked on heaven's gates
early on Sunday morning,
July 27, and was sur-
rounded by family and
friends as she surrendered
to a valiantly fought but
exhausting war with can-
cer.
My older and much-
loved siblings are Sid,
Barr Nancy, Nanette and
Scott. They are some of the
many heroes who loved
and cared for me through-
out my life. They will con-
tinue to love and assist in
caring for our children and
my husband in my absence.
Thank you to Grant and
Leigh VanderHolt for being
one of the role models in
our children's lives. I have
confidence that all of you,
along with my husband,
will continue to raise our
children in a Godly and re-
spectful manner.

ing members of Fellow-
ship Community Church
where we remained very
active. I enjoyed teaching
Sunday school, AWANA,
serving as a youth leader,
part creator of the Jingle
Bells and, we cannot for-
get, May and Fay. It was
always a blessing and
honor to bring God's scrip-
ture to the children and
adults that came through
the church doors.
Todd, my husband of 29
years, is my rock. He is my
hero and our kids' hero
too. He spiritually led me
and will continue to lead
our kids in prayer, read the
