The Norwalk Super- stars baton competition teams traveled to Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN to compete in the 2010 National Baton Twirl- ing Championships. Thirty girls from the Su- perstars represented the state of Iowa in both team and individual competi- tions at the national com- petition, July 20-23. These dedicated twirlers spent much of their summer practicing and training for the national event and their hard work paid off! The Superstars took a total of nine group rou- tines to the national com- petition. The Superstars took the floor with their themed halftime routines Magazine Stand and Beach Party placing in the top ten for Magazine Stand. They also competed with four dance twirl routines. The juvenile team competed with Witch Doctor placing fourth, the junior team twirled It's My Party plac- ing sixth, the senior team placed second twirling to Reach and the pre-teen team competed to Step- By-Step. Half-time rou- tines tell a story by incor- porating twirling and a va- riety of props whereas dance twirl routines focus on one-baton twirling skills with the coordination of body movements. The Su- perstars brought home a third place in their big pro- duction of TV Sitcoms! In addition, many twirl- ers participated in the in- dividual events at the com- petition including solo, strut, two-baton and show twirl. Many individuals placed in the top ten in one or more events. Way to go girls?
