Live 2 B Healthy instructors lead classes every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 11:15 a.m. Class will last about 45 minutes. Live 2 B Healthy trainers are highly experienced with senior fitness. All ability levels are welcome. Everyone who attends the class can look forward to improving strength, balance and flexibility while improving mood and lowering stress. Please come out and try our exercise program. Edencrest at the Legacy is located at 2901 Cedar Street in Norwalk. Anyone ages 55 and up is welcome to join us for fitness classes. Let's all create a healthier life, and a happier you! Norwalk Meals on Wheels Needs Drivers Meals on Wheels is a volunteer based program that serves Norwalk homebound with a hot, nutritious meal Monday-Friday from approximately 10:30am- 12:00pm. Volunteer drivers do more than just deliver meals, they are sometimes the only contact seniors have with other people during the weekdays. There are 2 routes and 2 volunteers needed each day, with each route only taking an hour or less. SHIIP Offers Welcome to Medicare Seminar The Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) provides assistance with understanding Medicare so people make informed decisions. SHIIP Services are free, unbiased, and confidential. Warren County SHIIP volunteers are having a Welcome to Medicare seminar Thursday, August 29th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Indianola Activity Center (2204 West 2nd Avenue in Indianola). This free seminar covers all Medicare parts (A through D). Register by calling (515) 962-5375. Nominations Still Being Accepted for Family Physician of the Year Award Is your Family Physician the best of the best? Do they go above and beyond to care for their patients? Are they active in the community? Do you think they deserve the 2019 Family Physician on the Year Award? If so, we want to hear about them! The Iowa Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) is seeking nominations for the 2019 Family Physician of the Year. Each year the IAFP awards one family physician the title "Family Physician of the Year" on the basis of outstanding service to patients and community, and devotion to Family Medicine. If you would like to nominate your family physician please send letters of nomination to the Iowa Academy describing why your family physician should receive the Family Physician of the Year Award. Nomination letters should be sent by September 2nd, 2019 to the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians, 100 E. Grand Ave Ste. 240, Des Moines, IA 50309 or emailed to kcox@iaafp.org. Exciting World War II Rescue the Subject of WCHS Meeting The August 27th Warren County Historical Society program will be the narration by Elodie Opstad of WCHS member Bob Davey's 10-day journey through Yugoslavia after he and the crew of his disabled plane parachuted down near a small village in the war- torn country. Under the protection of partisan troops the men were concealed and carefully moved to Belgrade and the protection of the American mission. Elodie has slides of the route the crew followed which she and her husband, Sandy, took during their trip to today's Bosnia and Serbia this last spring. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. on the 27th, and is free and open to the public. The program will be in the museum building just off the southeast corner of the Warren County Fairgrounds, in Indianola.
