Page Ten ' N/Warren Town and County News Thursday, August 29, 2013 BUSINES00 REVIEW "BestFriends Forever!" at Adventures School of Discovery Baseball, frisbee golf and flag football are just the beginnings of the adventures campers experienced this summer at Adventures School of Discovery. From fly balls and butterflies, bats and birds of a feather, beach hoppers and honey bees, fishing and fireflies, horse rides and exploring country trails, fantastic fun was had with friends old and new. Creative highlights included making imaginative and colorful seascapes. Team building activities included the construction of racing boats that required members to create the wind source - all made from recycled materials. Pet food and used blankets and towels were collected to be donated to Warren County Animal Shelter, Kiya Koda, located in Indianola to assist some of our best friends forever-cats and dogs! Students adventurers included ages ranging from 2 to 12: Jesse Johnson, Riley O'Donnell, Eva Smith, Dylan DeCapp, Willie Johnson, Carson Silvers, Carson Levi, Jacoby Robbins, Gavin Weidmann, Finn Morrow, Addie Smith, Emma Purdum, Bobby Orsini, Kennedy Robbins, Olivia Dougherty, Sam Eggers, Abby Silvers and Carter LaVelle with help from ISU student, Elizabeth Purdum and horse wrangler, Katherine Schrnidt and Lady, the pony. Multi-age classes that promote exploration and discovery are offered for 3 to 5 year olds at the rurally-located early childhood program during the academic school year. Photos submitted. Arbor Day Foundation Everyone from Iowa who joins the Arbor Day Foundation in September will re- ceive 10 free trees as part of the Foundation's Trees for America program. Through Trees for America, everyone is encouraged to plant trees for the benefit of the environment and quality-of-life. With one million members, the Arbor Day oundation is the nation s largest nonprofit orgaruzation dedxcated to planting trees. Everyone joining this month will receive an eastern redbud, white pine, sugar maple, white flowering dogwood, pin oak, red maple, river birch, silver maple, north- ern red oak and Colorado blue spruce. The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting between October 15 and December 10. The 6- to 12-inchtrees are guarantee d to grow or they will be replaced free of charge. Easy-to-follow planting instructions are enclosed with each shipment of trees. New members of the Arbor Day Foundation will also receive The Tree Book which includes information about tree planting and care.
