gratitude to Bryan Greiner
and the Norwalk Fareway
as they start the third year
of their Backpack Program
for hungry families in
Norwalk- ‘
Since 2013, the Women
of Norwalk organization
has partnered with
Fareway and the elemen-
tary schools to provide
nutritious non-perishable
food to families in need.
School counselors, at
Oviatt and Lakewood
have assisted to identify 14
families that could benefit
from some extra groceries

School.
Fareway has provided
the food to the organiza-
tion at a discounted price,
which has allowed the
community betterment
group to serve more fami-
lies than they would have
otherwise. Fareway staff
also assists by bagging up
the food and having it
ready for the Women of
Norwalk volunteer to pick
up and deliver to Oviatt
and Lakewood. The food
is sent home on Fridays
and has been well received
by the families in need.
The Women of Norwalk
raises funds throughout
the year to provide this
service to the Norwalk
community and has do-
nated well over $5,000 in
groceries since 2013. Re-
cent yearly fundraisers
have included a Girls’
Night Bunco Party, Trivia
Night, Younkers Commu-
nity Day coupon sale and
a large garage sale each
spring. The Women of
Norwalk are appreciative
of Greiner’s role in making
the Backpack Program a
reality and Wish him the
best as he starts his new
position with Fareway
September 15.
The Women of Norwalk
is seeking new members.
