Statewide Volunteer Day Iowa state parks have set Saturday, September 28th as annual Volunteer Day, when Iowans are invited to lend a hand at more than 40 parks hosting clean-up events. Volunteer activities will focus on prepping for the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Iowa state park system in 2020. The DNR is working with several organizations to create park improvements and plan activities for the centennial event. Clean-up efforts will be unique for each park depending on clean-up needs, but may include litter pick-up, staining or painting buildings, planting trees, clearing trails, and more: Citizens interested in volunteering can learn more at https:// www.iowadnr.gov/volunteer. I Wanda Harry, 59, Norwalk, died peacefully Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 at her home. The daughter of Jake and Margaret Barkley Benge, Wanda was born on April 10th, 1960. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1978 and AIB College in 1980 with an accounting degree. Wanda worked for Wells Fargo Financial for over 30 years. She married Douglas Harry on Oct- OBITUARY WANDA HARRY ober 7th, 1989 at the Norwalk Christian Church. Together they raised two daughters, Rene and Misty. Wanda is survived by her husband, Doug; two daughters, Rene Harry of Des Moines and Misty (Tony) Lovejoy of DeSoto; two grandchildren, Dene and Ty; her father Jake (Norma) Benge of Patterson; a brother, Alan (Lori) Benge of Des Moines and his children, Austin and Shannon. A Celebration of Life service was held Sat- urday, September 14th at the Norwalk Christian Church. Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Orilla.
