Registration forms for events are available 24 hours
a day at the Parks and Recreation office (1100
Chatham Avenue, inside the Norwalk Public Safety
Building) or print them off our website:
www.norwalk.iowa.gov. You can mail registration
forms, place them in our drop box, or walk in. Office
hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
The drop box is open 24/7. If you have any questions,

Elizabeth Holland Park located at 1401 Colonial
Parkway, east of Hwy 28 on the south side of
Beardsley Street is looking amazing! It currently
includes 2 ponds stocked by the DNR, a walking trail
with lighting, prairie, and a parking lot on the south
side of the park on Colonial Parkway. At this time
the park is still CLOSED due to construction and we
ask that you please stay off the trail until it is safely
open. Opening date is to be announced soon!
Billy O. Phillips Park playground equipment
located at 2500 Lexington Drive is under construction
and closed to the public beginning September 16th.
The mulch surface will be removed and a poured
surface will be added as well as our new wheelchair
swing.
Warrior Park challenge course construction has

" YEL Grandmasters of Chess
Chess class follows four basic components: Teach
It! Each class students are taught different chess
concepts and coached to implement those concepts
into their chess games. Puzzle It! Students are given
chess puzzles (constructed by WIM Serafima
Sokolovskaya) and work with coach guidance. Play
It! Each class ends with students playing 20 -30
minutes of chess. Coaches often feature in-class
tournaments during the session. Class fee includes
Chesskids.com membership for the session (a $49
annual value).
For students in 3rd - 5th grades, program dates
are Fridays, 3:20 pm to 4:20 pm, October 25,
November 1, 8 (no class), 15, 22, 29 (no class),
December 6, 13 at Lakewood Elementary.
Craft Club
Get out your glue gun and imaginations for this
program. Children in 3rd through 5th grades at
Lakewood Elementary are invited to join. They meet
once a month after school on early out Wednesdays
to make special art and craft projects. Program dates
are Wednesdays 1:30 pm to 4:15 pm, October 2,
November 6, December 4, January 15, February 12,
and March 11.
YEL Junior Robotics
21st Century Robotics Enrichment using LEGO
bricks. Junior Robotics follows four basic components.
Teach It! Each class students are taught the basic
STEM engineering concepts behind each project.
Build It! Students use LEGO bricks to build
different projects each session. Program It! Then they
program the project to perform different actions using
drag and drop icon based software. Play It! Finally
they play with their project, modify it, create
extensions and have fun working with it.
For students in grades K- 2nd: Program Dates
are Monday, 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm, November 11, 18,
25, December 2 at Orchar l Hills Elementary. For
students in grades 3rd - 5th: Program dates are
Tuesday, 3:20 pm to 4:20 pm, November 12, 19, 26,
December 3 at Lakewood Elementary.
