This activity teaches the beginning fundamentals of basketball. Volunteer coaches WILL be needed for the program. T-shirts will be provided. Times will vary depending on the number of teams. Program dates are Saturdays, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, November 9 - December 21 at Norwalk Oviatt Elementary Gym. 5th/6th Grade Boys/Girls Basketball This program is for boys and girls in 5th and 6th grades. This is acoed team unless we have enough to assign boy/girl teams. League will practice one night a week and play games on Saturdays. Volunteer coaches WILL be needed for the program. T-shirts will be provided. Times will vary depending on the number of teams. Program dates are Tuesday/ Thursday practices, 6:15 pm to 8:30 pm, Saturday games, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, November 9 - December 21, at the Norwalk Oviatt Elementary Gym. Events at Norwalk Easter Public Library 1051 North Avenue 515-981-0217 *All adult events will no longer require a $2 registration fee and there will no longer be a roll- over from previous events. All events are first come first served. SEPTEMBER 21st-2 7th : Banned Books Display-All week! This week is National Banned book week. We'll have different books that have been banned from different schools and libraries throughout history. Come in and check them out! Thursday September 19 Rhy ne Time- 10:30 am- This storytime is more 4th - 6th Grade Volleyball active, with lots of songs, rhymes, and shorter books. This program is for boys and girls in 4th through Great for toddlers, all ages welcome. 25 minutes 6th grades. Our goal is to have fun while teaching followed by playtime, the fundamentals of volleyball. We will work on passing, setting, and spiking with an overall emphasis on good sportsmanship. This program will begin with practice for the first two weeks and then the boys and girls will be assigned to teams and will play games for the next four weeks. Program dates are Sundays, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, October 6, 13, 20, 27, November 3, 10, at the Norwalk Middle School Gym. Adult Women's Volleyball League Join a couple of friends and come out and enjoy an evening of volleyball. This league will play on Sunday nights. This league is self-officiating. Please register as a team with a maximum of 10 players. Session I Program dates: Sundays, 6:00 pm to 9:00pm, October 6, 13, 20, 27, November 3, 10, at the Norwalk Middle School Gym. Adult Pick-Up Basketball Games Pick-up basketball games will be offered for adults Please bring clean tennis shoes to wear for the games. This program is only for residents who live within the NorWalk school district. Program dates Wednesdays, 7-9 pm, October 2 - March 18 at Oviatt Gym. Community Open Gym Stop by the gym to develop your shooting skills or to pick up a game of basketball. Make sure you bring a clean pair of tennis shoes to play ball. This open gym is for students 7th to 12th grade and adults. Bring your own basketball because of the limited amount at the school. Program dates: Tuesdays/ Thursdays, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pro, September 19, 24, 26 October 1, 3, 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24; pay at the door (Location TBA) Family Bingo Nights Stop by the library on Sunday evenings and enjoy a good time with bingo and tasty treats. Please bring munchies or snacks to share and we provide beverageg. All ages are invited to participate. Bingo callers are Norwalk Lions members. Program dates are Sundays, October 6, November 3, December 1, February 2, March 1, and April 5, from 5-7 pm. Family Open Gym Shoot:hbops or play a pick up game with friends or family. Bring clean tennis shoes for the floor. No registration required, just show up and play. For residents of the Norwalk school district only. Program dates: Sundays, November 3, 10, 17, 24, December 1, 8, 15, Jarmary 5, 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16, 2-4 pm. ! Drive in Trick or Treat Night Trick or Treat night in Norwalk will be Wednesday, October 30 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Before you head out for! a ghostly fun time in your neighborhood, be sure to stop by the Public Safety Building (from 5:30 to 6:30) to pick up your trick-or-treat bag, glow sticks, and treats. This event is for children Preschool to 5th grade, and will be held at the Norwalk Fire Station bay, drive through the South side of bay 1 and 2. *OPALS (Older People with Active Life Styles) Senior Citizen Programs* Senior Exercise Class Everyone ages 55 and older is invited to attend a free exercise program that will include stretching and toning. We will meet at Norwalk Christian Church, 701 Main Street. Registration is not required. Programdates: every Monday and Thursday from 10- 10:30 a.m. Well-Seasoned Potluck Everyone age 55 and older, come and socialize with the Parks and Recreation staff for a potluck lunch. Meat, tableware, and coffee/beverages are provided. Bring a side dish/dessert to share. Call the office to register before the event so we know the amount of meat needed - 515.981.9206. Program dates: Fridays, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, October 11, November 8, December 13, January 10, February 7, and March 6, at the Norwalk Public Safety Building. Monday September 23 Baby Time- 10:30 am- A storytime designed especially for babies up to about 18 months and their adults (siblings welcome). Learn lots of songs, rhymes, and bounces! 15 minutes followed by playtime. Harry Potter Escape Room-3:45 pro, 4:45 pro, 5:45 pro, 6:45 pm-Work together to solve a Harry Potter themed escape room. Sign up for a time slot at the library. This event is for 6th-12th graders only. Tuesday September 24 Reading Time- 10:30 am- This storytime focuses on books and pre-reading skills. Read books, sing songs and do activities! Great for preschoolers, all ages welcome. 25 minutes followed by playtime. -Tuesday Tech- 1:00 pin- 2:00 pro- Join us the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month for a Drop in 1-on-1 technology help session with Kayla. Kayla will provide tips and tricks for digital book downloading, resume formatting, database navigation, and so much more! Wednesday September 25 Early Out Wednesdays!- -2:30 pin- 3:30 pro- Drop in activities every Wednesday if there is school in Norwalk. No registration required. Great for elementary age children, all ages welcome. This week is the MAKE! Program. Make art and craft projects with a variety of materials. Thursday September 26 Rhyme Time- 10:30 am- This storytime is more active, with lots of songs, rhymes, and shorter books. Great for toddlers, all ages welcome. 25 minutes followed by playtime.
