Dale Harris Pilmer, Jr., 65, Norwalk, died unex- pectedly Saturday, Sept. 26, at his home. Funeral services were Thursday, Oct. 1, at O'Leary Celebration of Life Center-Funeral & Cre- mation Services in Norwalk. Dale, the son of Dale Harris, Sr. and Jean Mar- garet (Garrison) Pilmer, was born November 15, 1949, in Des Moines. He grew up in Des Moines, graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1967 and attended Drake Univer- sity. Dale worked for Eq- uitable of Iowa before en- listing in the United States Air Force in 1969. He served his country honor- ably during the Vietnam War, stationed in Korea as a radio operator. Dale returned to Des MoLnes in 1973, where he worked for the Veterans Administration, retiring in 2010. Dale loved to read, enjoyed genealogy and loved Norwalk, moving therein 1984. Growing up, he was very close to his paternal grandfather, Lisle Pilmer, whose family was Dale Harris Pilmer, Jr. Lutheran Church in Des Moines, where he was very involved for a num- belr of years in its music miinistry. Dale is survived by his sisters, Andrea Pilmer, Nancy Borghi and Sharon Pilmer, all of West Des Moines; his aunt, Mary Nemeth and cousin, Patricia Brady, of Dallas, TX; two nephews, Daniel Hannan (Jessica Hill) and Matthew Borghi; two great-nephews, Matthew Risinger and Aidan Harman; and great-niece Zoey Hannan. Stubbs, 82, Norwalk, passed away Saturda Sept. 26, at the Norwalk Nursing and Re- habilitation Center. Mr. Stubbs was born May 26, 1933 in Pleasantville, to Myrl and Jessie (Lyon) Stubbs. He served in the United States Air Force during the Ko- rean War. He is survived by his wife, Marian; son, Wade (Kris); four grandchildren, Caitlyn, Mary, Holly and Andrew; and three great- grandchildren, Mallory, Lucas and Calvin. He was preceded in death by his parents; sis- ters, Ethel and Dixie, and his infant daughter, Glenn Stubbs Kristen. Burial will be at Pleasantville Cemetery in Pleasantville. OBITUARY GRETCHEN LAMAE HAGEN Gretchen LaMae Hagen, 92, Van Wert, the daughter of John Floyd and Esther Belle (Edging- ton) Argabright, was born October 31, 1922, in Lam- oni. She died at the Good Samaritan Center in Indi- anola, Sunday, Sept.'27. Gretchen grew up in Lamoni and attended school there. In 1989, she married Shelby Dale Hagen. They made their home, several..p!accs Clarke and. ecatur Coun- ties, with the longest time in Van Wert. They were blessed with three chil- dren, Jim, Jerry, and San- dra. Throughout her life, Gretchen worked hard. She was a waitress at Han- aco and Riley's Roof Gar- den, was a seamstress at O'Bryan Brothers, and worked in the laundry de- partment at Leon Care Center. She retired at age 73. In earlier years, Gretch- en enjoyed bowling and fishing. She also liked to play cards, especially Pitch. She enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; hus- band, Shelby in 1993; son, Jim Hagen in 2014; grand- children, John Hagen, Camron Gracey, and Christina Hagen; and sib- lings, Melba Swigart, Ver- le Argabright, and John Argabright. Gretchen.LaHae Hagen Survivors include her children, Jerry Hagen of Van Wert and Sandy Gracey and husband Curt of Norwalk; daughter-in- law, Connie Hagen of Wel- don, Iowa; five grandchil- dren, Candy Melbie, Kim and Dan Kirkpatrick, Joe and Jennifer Hagen, Jeff and Roz Hagen, and Ryan Gracey; six great grand- children, Cassie and Aus- tin Melbie, Drew Kirk- patrick, Michael and Travis Hagen, and Jayna Hagen; sisters, Jean Gray of Van Wert and Shirley Gross of Ponca City, Okla- homa; nieces and neph- ews. Funeral services were held at the Slade - O'DonneU Funeral Home in Leon, Wednesday, Sept. 30. Burial was in the Van Wert Cemeter36 Van Wert, Iowa at a later date.
