Box 325, Norwalk, IA50211 Member of: National Newspaper Iowa Newspaper Association Association OBITUARY CALVIN "CAL" BROWN Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 1, at First Baptist Church in Indiano- la for Calvin "Cal" Brown, 88, Indianola, who died at his home Saturday, Sept. 28, of heart failure. Burial was in the Linn Grove Cemetery, Prole. Mr. Brown was born near Sargent, NE moving to Iowa in 1949. He lived on a farm near Martens- dale from 1956 to 1999 be- fore moving to The Village in Indianola. He served in the Navy during World War H and started Mid- west Sprinkler Company in 1953. Survivors include his wife, Donna; four daugh- ters, Carol (Bruce) Blan- chard of Lexington, KY, Beverly Brown of New Port Richey, FL, Judy Brown of Murphy, NC, and Dottie (Jim) Johnson of Indianola; two stepchil- dren, Randy (Karen) Corn- ing of Indianola and Diane (Doug) Gladson of Nor- walk; four brothers, John Calvin "Cal" Brown of Ohio, and Dick, Jack and Robert of Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; infant daughter, Bar- bara; parents; two brothers and two sisters. Memorials may be giv- en to the Good Shepherd Fund or HCI of Central Iowa. Online condolences may be made at www. overtonfunerals.com. OBITUARY CHARLES A. BRANDSFIELD Graveside services were held Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines for Charles A. Brandsfield, 99, Des Moines, who died Sunda36 ept. 29, at Valley View Village in Des Moines. Mr. Brandsfield was born July 15,1914 in Des Moines to Ella McCaskey and Charles Brandsfield. He gradu- ated from East High School in 1933 and was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic ChUrch. He was an avid fan of the Cubs and Cardinals and enjoyed golfing. Survivors include his children, Penny (Pete) Rounds, Bud (Kristi) Brandsfield, Bob (Darla) Brandsfield and Mike (Nancy) Brandsfield; nine grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daugh- ter, Connie Brandsfield; grandson, Timothy Rounds; great-grandson, Corey Brown, and sister, Zola Brandsfield. BROWN Services were held in Des Moines Saturda); Oct. 5, for Patrida J. Brown, 90, Norwalk, who died Wednesday, Oct. 2. Burial was in the Norwalk Cem- etery. Mrs. Brown was born February 8, 1923 to.Harry and Dorothae Carper in Des Moines. Survivors include her sons, Bobby Brown and Terry Brown; daughters, Judy Kenoyer, Dixie Renda, Kris Kessler and Cathy Fuson; 18 grandchil- dren; 31 great-grandchil- dren and four great-great- grandchildren. OBITUARY ANTHONY "TONY" LAFRATTE A funeral service was held Wednesda3 Oct. 2, at Church of the Assumption in Churchville for Antho- ny "Tony" LaFratte, 86, Prole. Mr. LaFratte died Friday, Sept. 27, at his home in Madison County. Mr. LaFratte is survived by his wife of 60 years, Darlene; their children, Jane (Sid) Klug of Winter- set, John (Shirley) LaFratte of Winterset, Sue South- wick of Prole, Bob (Vet) LaFratte of West Des Moines, Patty Edwards of Pleasant Hill and Angle (Kenny) Smith of Winter- set. Also, five grandchil- dren, Shelley Klug, Steve Klug, Brandy Rynearson, Marcy Boldman and Brad LaFratte; seven great- grandchildren, Lannie Davis, Austin Klug, Lexis Nittler, Chantz Nittler, Makayla, Trenton and Emily Rynearson; and two great-great-grandchildren, London and Talyan Davis. Mr. LaFratte was pre- ceded in death by his par- ents, Pasquale and Car- mella LaFratte; his step- mother, Paulina LaFratte; a brother, Frank LaFratte; two sisters, Mary LaFratte and Katherine Burk. Donald Emehiser OBITUARY DONALD EMEHISER Services were held Sat- urday, Oct. 5, in Adel for Donald Emehiser, 63, Johnston, who died Wed- nesda) Oct. 2, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Burial was at Pan- ther Creek Cemetery. Mr. Emehiser was bom October 14, 1949 in Des Moines to Merritt and Gretchen-(Caudle) Eme- 1-riser of Adel, the young- est of five/children. He married Betty (Henson) Emehiser August 1, 1970 and had two children, Cory and Kristy. He lived in Adel as a young man, attended Adel schools graduating in 1967, then attended Des Moines Area Community College in Anken3 later moving to Prole and then Johnston. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty; children, Cory (Jill) Eme- hiser and Kristy (Gary) Giefer; grandchildren, Katelin and Alex Emehis- er and Grant and Gavin Giefer; siblings, Rosalie Jensen, Jean (Veto) Aldrich and Dennis (Linda) Eme- hiser. Mr. Emehiser was a member of St. Paul Luthe- ran Church in Martensdale for many years. He was active in his church and was a member of the An- tique Automobile Club of America, Des Moines Re- gion. He worked for Aristech Chemical until his retirement in 1995. Memorial contributions may be directed to his church, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Martensdale.
