All-State Auditionees
The Norwalk High School Choral Department will be represented by 12 singers auditioning for the 2011-2012 Iowa High School Music Association's All-State Choir at
Indianola High School Saturday, Oct. 22.
The singers have been preparing the audition material since the start of August by attending clinics at Iowa State University, Wartburg College and Grandview College.
The audition material featured thi s year is "Laetatus Sum" by Johann Haydn; "The Sounding Sea" by Eric Barnum; "Dies Irae" by Zdenck Lukas; "Of Crows and Clusters"
by Norman Dello Joio; "Shenandoah" arranged by Mack Wilberg; "John Saw De Numbuh" arranged by Stacey Gibbs; "Miserere Mei" by Richard Burchard; "Battle Hymn
of the Republic" arranged by P. Wilhousky and "America the Beautiful" arranged by Alice Jordan.
Singers auditioning this year are Sopranos-Megan Cook, daughter of Donald and Julie Cook, Kelsey Norris, daughter of Richard and Peggy Norris, Katie Campbell
daughter of Dave and Annette Campbell and Kes Smith, daughter of Lee and Dawn Smith.
Alto-Lana Carlson, daughter of Lloyd and Lashelle Carlson and Alex Davis, daughter of Willie and Amanda Davis; Tenors-Blake Raymond, son of Chad and Melissa
Raymond and Austin Diedrichs, son of Travis and Lelanie Rice.
Also Basses-Nick Baker, son of Deb and Brian Baker, Nick Friesen, son of Don and Bobi Jo Friesen, Sam Bergan, son of Jeff and Sharyn Bergan d Nathan Henke, son of
Ken and Jodi Henke.
Their vocal coaches are Kim Ward and Gerard Krupke.
Singers selected in this audition will become members of a 600-voice choir that will participate in the All-State Music Festival at Iowa State University November 18-19.
The guest director will be Bruce Rogers, Director of Choral Activities at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA.
