SMALLEY A celebration of life was held Sunda Oct. 17, at Annett Nature Center at Lake Aquabi State Park, Indianola, for Nancy Jane Smalley, New Virginia, who died Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Taylor House in Des Moines following a courageous battle with cancer. Private burial was held at the New Virginia Cemetery. Mrs. Smalley was born on November 5, 1948 to Max and Evelyn Hill of Martensdale. She married George Smalley June 28,1969 and they resided in New Virginia. Mrs. Smalley was a babysitter and caregiver in New Virginia before beginning work for Iowa Health Physi- cians in 1999. Shewas a member of New Virginia United Methodist Church, UMW Flames Group and received the Mother of the Year award from the church in 2010. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. Survivors include four children, Teressa (Tim) Garber and Shelley (Brian) Nelson, both of New Virginia, Jus- tin (Ann) Smalley of Ankeny and Heather (Josh) Beck of Truro; grandchildren, Natasha, Alexis, Abbie, Sierra, Kayla, Carter, Colter, Cannon and Cordon; and a great- grandchild, Taylor. Other survivors include sisters, Carolyn Sampson of Indianola, Joyce Edwards-of West Des Moines and Marilvn Morris of Norwalk and a brother, Maurice Hill of Norwalk. OBITUARY CHARLES "CHUCK" OGLE Services were held Sat- urday, Oct. 16, at Grace Church in Des Moines for Charles "Chuck" Ogle, 71, Norwalk, who died Tues- day, Oct. 12, at Regency Care Center. Mr. Ogle was born Oc- tober 14, 1938 in Bondurant to Cecil and Alice (Haines) Ogle. He served in the U.S. Army. He loved spending time with his family, hunting and working on cars and motors. Survivors include his wife, Kay; children, Cristin (Gary) Adams, Kevin (Michelle) Ogle and Eliza- beth Ogle; daughter-in- law, Stephanie Ogle; sons- in-law, Rick Lewis and Leon Wilson II; brothers, Cecil Ogle and Dale (Marilyn) Ogle; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Thomas. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. OBITUARY THOMAS D. OGLE Services were held Sat- urday, Oct. 16, at Grace Church in Des M0ines for Thomas D. Ogle, 37, Norwalk, who died Mon- day, Oct. 11. Mr. Ogle loved spend- ing time with his kids and family, watching movies and playing video games. He also enjoyed being out- doors and hunting. Survivors include his wife, Stephanie; children, Taylor, Hunter and Harmah; parents, Charles and Kay; sisters, Cristin (Gary) Adams and Eliza- beth Ogle; brother, Kevin (Michelle) Ogle; brothers- in-law, Rick Lewis and Leon wilson II; and 11 nieces and nephews. OBITUARY EVELYN MARIE HILL Services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, at Overton Fu- neral Home in Indianola for Evelyn Marie Hill, 85, Martensdale, who died Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Burial was in the New Virginia Cemetery. Mrs. Hill was born August 19, 1925 the daughter of Raymon and Gladys Stuart. She married Maurice (Max) Hill in 1947. She worked as a receptionist at the Warren County Court House and retired as a cook from the Martensdale-St. Marys Community Schools after many years. She was a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Max; daughter, Nancy Smalley on Tuesday, Oct. 12; brother, Lyle Stuart; sister, Esther Stuart; and her parents. Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn (Buzz) Sampson of Indianola, Joyce (Mike) Edwards of West Des Moines, and Marilyn (Glenn) Morris of Norwalk; son, Maurice (Teresa) Hill of Norwalk; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Leonard Stuart; and son-in-law, George Smalley.
