Volunteers
Needed For
Meals-on-Wheels
Volunteers are needed
for Norwalk's Meals-On-
Wheels program. The pro-
gram takes two drivers
each da five days a week.
There are two routes.
The driver for Route One
picks up empty trays from
the Norwalk Police De-
partment and then picks
up meals in Martensdale
before 10:30 a.m., return-
ing to Norwalk to deliver
approximately five meals
in Norwalk.
Route Two driver picks
up meals at the Norwalk
Christian Church around
11 a.m. and delivers ap-
proximately 15-20 meals in
Norwalk.
Mileage can be turned
in for reimbursement.
Volunteers can work
individually or with an-
other person. Small
groups, clubs and busi-
nesses also can provide the
drivers. Drivers must be
reliable. If a driver doesn't
show up for the de]ivery,
it can be devastating for
the person waiting to re-
ceive a hot meal for the
day.
Several of the program's
regular drivers are leaving
for the winter, which cre-
ates an opportunity for
others to participate in the
program. In addition to
delivering the meals, vol-
unteers provide a kind
smile to ,an elderly resi-
dent. You can make a dif-
ference! .........
To volunteer, contact
Chris Riter at the Norwalk
Christian Church, 981-
0176.
