Basic Babysitting Class

These children ages 5th grade and up completed the Babysitting Bas s Training
Course through the Warren County Extension Service and Norwalk Prrks & Rec.
The class taught basic first aid, caring for infants, safety and responsbilities for
babysitting. A special thanks to the guest speakers including Jeff llacombrer,
Fire Chief Dustin Huston, Val Cameron, SRO Brad Criswell and Brb Ramos.

Mike Leto and Howard McDole have opened a new business in Norwalk. The
Repair Shop is located at 730 Main St. across from the Norwalk Hardware. Leto is
from Norwalk and McDole lives in rural Norwalk.
The Repair Shop will offer services for automobiles, heavy trucks and industrial
vehicles. Oil changes, batteries and 24/7 jump start service, along with lock out ser-
vices will be offered to customers. The Repair Shop will be the only business in
Norwalk to offer welding fabricating, snow plow installation and repair.
Another service will include tire repair. Leto and McDole advised tire service for
automobiles, trucks and lawnmowers will be offered to customers.

hours are Monday through Friday," 8-5 and Saturdays by appointment.

Tuesday, Nov. 5, USA Network and Mediacom honored Des Moines resident and
CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, ]amie Boersma, with the Characters Unite
Award for her efforts to combat prejudice and discrimination. The ceremony took
place at the West End Architectural Salvage and recognized-Boersma service to
nearly 14,000 girls and 4,000 adults in 67 counties in central and western Iowa.
USA Network and Mediacom presented Boersma with a $5,000 grmt; she will
also be featured on-air in a PSA and online at charactersunite.com. Pctured, left

Vote For Julian Garrett on November 19
Julian Garrett isTunning for the Iowa Senate in the special election on November
19. He is currently serving in his second term in the Iowa House of Representatives,
having been elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2012. He is a fiscal and social
conservative. Through his service" on the House Appropriations Committee he has
fought to make sure that the state spends less than it receives in revenue.
Julian is a farmer in Warren County where he lives with his wife Nancy. His two older
boys, Ryan and Jeff, have graduated with engineering degrei s from Iowa State, and the
youngest, Jonathan, will graduate with his engineering degree from Iowa State next
May. Julian coached little league and soccer teams as well as mock trial teams for
many years when the boys were younger. He grew up on an Iowa farm where he
learned about hard work and personal responsibility. He has raised purebred Charolais
cattle for many years. He is a long time Farm Bureau member. Julian is a member of
the Lutheran Church.
