OBITUARY
SHIRLEE J. FLAMMANG
A Mass of Christian
Burial was held Saturda
Nov. 16, at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church, rural
Cumming, for Shiflee Jean
Flammang, 82, Council
Bluffs, who died Wednes-
da) Oct. 30, at Kavanagh
House hospice in Des
Moines. Burial was at St.
Patrick's Cemetery.
Mrs. Flammang was
born July 5, 1931 in Algo-
na to James and Margaret
(Palmer) Elbert. She grew
up in Waterloo where she
met her high school sweet-
heart, Francis (Fritz) Flam-
mang. They were married
in 1951.
Mrs. Flammang was a
competitive dancer in her
youth and owned a "dance
studio in Waterloo before
moving to Council Bluffs
in 1957, where she lived
until her illness.
She was a past member
of Service League and had
many volunteer projects
over the years, including
restoration of the General
Dodge House and fund-
raising for Red Cross and
American Lung Associa-
tion. She enjoyed shop-
ping, bowling, golf and
trips to the casino, but es-
pecially loved making
friends and entertaining
people wherever she went
Survivors include her

daughter, Jody (Lawrence)
Watts of Norwalk; son,
Doug (Margaret) Flam-
mang of Foristell, MO;
grandchildren, Diane
(Dustin) Goering of West
Des Moines, Julie (Neal)
Gidvani of Las Vegas, NV,
JC Watts of Indianola,
Francis (Allison) Flam-
mang of Chesterfield, MO,
Michael Flammang and
Brian Flammang of Foris-
tell, MO; great-grandchil-
dren, Ava and Lauren Go-
ering and Elliott Gidvani.
She was preceded in
death by her parents and
her husband, Fritz.

OBITUARY
MARY HELEN STOLINE
Services were held in
Des Moines for Mary
Helen Stoline, 102, Nor-
walk who died Wednes-
day, Nov. 6, at Regency
Care Center in Norwalk.
Burial was at Jefferson
Cemetery in Jefferson.
Mrs. Stoline was born
December 20, 1910 to Nel-
lie (James) and james Mc-
Donough in Des Moines.
She graduated from North
High School and Simpson
College. Before World War
II, she taught school in
southern Iowa. During the
war, she was a Red Cross
worker at the Great Lakes
Naval Station. After the
war, she was a social work-
er in Jefferson. She mar-
ried John Melvin Stoline in
Jefferson. He was a farmer
and later retired from
United Airlines. They
bought a farm near Nor-
walk where they raised a
family.
Mrs. Stoline was a
member of Ruth Faith Cir-
cle United Methodist
Church Women and
served as President and
Norwalk PTA while her
sons were in school. She
was Precinct Committee
Woman and Head Precinct
Election Judge, a Norwalk
substitute teacher in ele-
mentary through high
school and was a member
of the Iowa Centenarians

Services were held
Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Kale
Funeral Home in Osceola
for Sydney Duaine Shell,
76, Murra) who died Fri-
da) Nov. 8, at his home.
He was cremated and his
cremains will be interned
in the Murray Cemetery at
a later date.
Survivors include his
wife, Deloma Shell of Mur-
ray; children, Cindy (Ron)
Flaherty of New Virginia,
Tim (Terri) Shell of Nor-
walk, Janet (Dean) Robbins
of Murray, Melody Shell of

resident of Regency Care
Center. She enjoyed quilt-
ing, baking apple pies and
won a blue ribbon for her
pie at the Warren County
Fair.

Marilee (Rahe) Stoline of
Gaithersburg, MD and
James Stoline of Affton,
MO; grandson, David and
his wife, Zoe (McDermott)
Stoline.
She was preceded in
death by her husband John
Melvin Stoline.

Johnston for Helena Eliz-
abeth Bell, 93, Johnston.
Burial was at Resthaven
Cemetery in West Des
Moines.
Mrs. Bell was born July
2, 1920 in Cumming to Jo-
seph and Ella Meade. She
married Albert J. Bell De-
cember 31, 1941.
Survivors include sons,
Dennis (Mary) and James
(Barbara); daughter, Karen
(Patrick) Reilly; nine
grandchildren; six great-
grandchildren; brothers,
Father Denis Meade O.S.B.
of Atchison, KS and John
Meade of Kansas City,
MO.
Preceding her in death
were her parents, hus-
band, Albert on November
30, 1992; sisters, Carmeli-
ta and Paula; and brother,
Joseph.
