Linn Grove Cookie, Candy Sale
Members of Linn Grove United Methodist Church, south of Norwalk just off Hwy
28, will host their annual Cookie and Candy Sale Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to '1
p.m. at the church.
Goodies may be purchased for $6 per pound. All proceeds will be used to help a
family have a Merry Christmas.

son of Jeff and Allison Hal-
vorson of Norwalk.
Mrs. Halvorson is a
2011 graduate of the Uni-
versity of Iowa School of
Nursing and is employed
at UnityPoint Methodist
Hospital. She is also a
graduate assistant at Bra-
dley University in Peoria,
IL, where she is working
on her Master's degree.
Mr. Halvorson is a 2003
graduate of Norwalk High
School and a 2009 gradu-
ate of the University of
Iowa. He is employed as a
field representative for
Clearesult.

Messiah
Des Moines Communi-
ty orchestra presents its
29th annual Celebrate and
Sing Handel's Messiah
Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at
Grace United Methodist
Church, 700 Cottage
Grove, Des Moines.
A pre-concert talk will
be at I p.m. Ben Allaway
from First Christian
Church in Des Moines is
guest conductor for the
free event.
Soloists are Kelly
Kretschmer - soprano,
Ann Cravero - alto, Edwin
Griffith - tenor and Robert
Patton - bass.
For those interested, the
Audience is the Chorus for
the sing-along concert.
Singers are encouraged to
bring their own score to
the concert, although a
small number of scores
will be available to borrow.

And Trimmings
Members of St. Paul
Lutheran Church of
Martensdale will hold
their afinual Trees, Tastes
and Trimmings Saturda3
Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 2
p.m. at the new worship
center, 615 Iowa Av6. The
original building was de-
stroyed by fire in October
of 2011 and this will be the
first Trees, Tastes and
Trimmings held in the new
church.
There will be home-
made cinnamon rolls in
the morning and a chili
and soup luncheon will be
served. Homemade
Christmas cookies and
candy will be sold by the
pound. Also, there will be
a display of trees and free
cookies and warm cider
will be served. Vendors,
including 31 Gifts, Scents3
Tupperware, N rwex,
Tastefully Simple, Pam-
pered Chef, Celebrating
Home and more, will as-
sist customers with their
holiday shopping.
Everyone is welcome to
attend the event and have
a chance to see the new
worship center.

public to a Synchronized
Lights and Live Nativity
event from 6:8 p.m. Satur-
da) Dec. 13, and 6-8 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 14. More
than 60,000+ Christmas
lights will cover the vari-
ous trees and bushes on
the property and will be
synchronized with Christ-
mas music that can be
heard in your vehicle. A
live nativity with real ani-
mals will also be a part of
the event.
Take in the sights and
sounds of this event from
the comfort of your
vehicle free cookies and
hot chocolate will be
brought to you! This is a
FREE event, however, do-
nations will be accepted
and will be used to assist
local needy families.
In case of inclement
weather, the event will be
rescheduled for Saturday,
Dec. 20, and Sunday, Dec.
21.
